the question was what people here were saying...was there complaining. absolutely, there was. people like you were defending francis at every step...others were tearing him apart.

GATER, dont' get me wrong. I'm not happy with our offseason. I wish we would have kept Gay. I wish we could have signed MJ. I'm also not saying that a healthy Yao and TMac = automatic championship. Far from it. They were both healthy when we lost 4 out of 5 playoff games to the mavs (after taking a 2-0 lead).

Really, all I'm trying to say is that even with Rudy Gay and Mike James, we're still a lottery team (IMO) if Yao and TMac miss as many games as they did last season.

I agree with you that other teams in our division have reloaded and we haven't. That pisses me off too. But like the thread title suggests, if our 2 stars can stay healthy, we still have a very good team. Even without Gay and MJ.

How do you define "good team" then? Without adding some more solid pieces, I don't see Rox pass first round of the playoffs, even if Yao and T-Mac are both healthy.

Just making the playoffs doesn't say much because half of teams in your conference could achieve that. 5th - 8th seat and first round exit means you are a mediocre team.

OK, I didn't totally understand your point. Yes, with Y&T healthy we are a good team. With a few good pieces, we're as good as the 51 win team. My sense of frustration is that we may be either too "vet" focused (no V-SPan, Ariza, Banks, etc...too young) or too late to the party for the "vets" (Buckner is already scooped up...are we going Devean George and/or A. Griffin?).

I'm not a Juwan-hater...he's just not worth much in trade IMHO. But with a good, tall athletic SG, he's not a problem in a rotation with Battier and Hayes. But those SG's who are vets with high $Ball #'s are very rare.

Gotta let the frustration stop bothering me.............................. :)

For me, 'good team' means a 50+ win playoff team. We lost to the mavs in 7 games in 2005. If we win game 3 (which was close), we probably win that series.

With Yao's amazing improvement in 2006, I don't see how you can automatically assume that we're a 1st round exit if he and TMac are healthy.

EDIT: OK, OK, a good team. Not a very good team. Now leave me alone!! :D

We still have a very good team. Group therapy step 2.

Well we do have a pretty good team. I just don't know how many times you can shout "we have Tmac and Yao" and "we took a very good mavs team to 7 games" before it all wears off.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Even with Yao and TMac, we will only win 20 games this year. We suck. Rudy Gay will no doubt be the next Michael Jordon and Mike James the next Magic Johnson. TMac will stay healthy, but will only average 8 ppg. And Yao will probably revert back to how he played his rookie year.

any team with yao and t-mac will always be a good team.....but look at the depth of this team...so many missing pieces.... one injury to yao or t mac and this team is wont make the playoffs

I completely agree, you only need 7 or 8 good players, and can fill in the rest with average ones....we are really close.
