We still COULD end up "best in the West" (along with NO)

    in ScriboErgoSum's thread, he says:

"The Hornets are the Southwest division winner because they have the Tie Break over us. The Lakers win the Pacific, and the Jazz win the Northwest. We get a top 4 seed because we are the winningest team that didn't win a division. Then it goes to the 3 team Tie Break for seeding. We have a combined 4-3 record against the Hornets and Lakers. The Lakers are 3-4, and the Hornets are 4-3. That would give us the #1 seed, the Hornets the #2, and the Lakers the #3. That would an all-time first. A team that didn't win its division getting the #1 seed."

His thread has been so informative. He's saying we can end up the #1 seed, if it ends up a "three way tie," by the Rockets winning out, the Lakers winning out, and New Orleans losing to Dallas on the last game of the season.

    ... wow, who'da thought?

If this were to happen, Los Angeles would end up with the number one seed, New Orleans 2, and Houston 3. In a three way tie, division winners must be determined first (if applicable). We split 2-2 with New Orleans, but they have a better division record. That leaves us with New Orleans and LA. They also split 2-2, but LA would have the better conference record making them the number one seed, New Orleans 2nd, Houston 3rd.

But if this were true, then Utah would have the 3 spot and San Antonio the 4 spot right now.

Division Winner determines who gets the top 4 seeds, with the next best record being the 4th. Then you get seeding and in the scenario above Houston would indeed have the 3 way TB. Although meeting NO in a play-off round would result in NO having HCA.

it's very possible that this might happen.

the nuggets are similar style but weaker than the suns, the clippers are easy... it's just the jazz game that scares me.

of course, the lakers and hornets can all drop an extra game as well.

the truth is, anything is possible.

What the standing will be if Rockets, Lakers, Spurs and Hornets finish the season with 56/26.

this is absolutely the ONLY chance we have of getting past the first round, and that's to claim the #1 seed and face Denver. thats the only team i'm confident we can beat. all 7 other teams will beat us.

The Lakers win the Pacific and get a top 4 seed. The Hornets win the Southwest so they get a top 4 seed. The Jazz get a top 4 seed for winning the Northwest.

That leaves the last top 4 for the winningest playoff team left, and the Spurs beat us out on a 2 team tie breaker due to a better division record, so we fall to #5.

As for seeding SA, NO, and LA 1-3, that can't be determined until we know the outcome of the Spurs-Lakers game on Sunday.

You want to root for the Spurs. We need them to fall a game back of us. If we rise into the top 4, we have the tie break on the Lakers. We also win a three way tie with the Hornets and Lakers.

    And Manu isn't playing!

Actually wouldnt we be a 1/2 game ahead as #1? We are currently a 1/2 game behind right now.

We are a half game back. We would actually be the #1 seed by a half game if the Rox beat the Kings

I have never seen that video. Ludacris is sick with the lyrics but can keep it lighthearted too. LOL! :D

Now, back to the playoff talk.
