I'm not going to speak for DD, but I think like I was that the Rox need a developmental young atheletic wing. That's why I never wanted Barry on this team. He really became a non factor when the rox got artest. So in my mind, I wanted Artest,Tracy, Shane and a young, slashing wing. So what you would hope for is 31 mins from tracy and artest and 20mins for shane and 14 mins from that youngster. That will keep the older guys fresh through the season , plus it adds a element to which this team don't have. I like wafer in La before he blew his knee out a couple of yrs ago. It couldve been mo evans, azibuke, someone to that ilk. Then after next season if that guy progresses and they resign artest after this season, you could move shane for either cap room or a solid, younger need player and that developmental player is in the rotation good. That was me, but maybe that's jus me looking ahead.
Even if we did keep him he would be another luther head. Glued to the bench. With the talent we have who is he going to play over?????
Is that the best you can do?? I wish we still had Andre Barrett. But seriously I wish we still had Richard Jefferson
Who are you kidding? Green wouldn't even see the floor in garbage time. He'd be behind T-mac, Battier, Barry, Wafer, and Head. Hard to imagine him getting even the slightest chance to play.
So what that he is on a one year deal. Anyone we sign currently not on an NBA roster would probably be a one year deal as well ie: DJ Strawberry or Mike Harris. How long do we have to keep waiting for these signs of developing to show. He was here and we didnt bring him back. He has been cut from a bunch of teams as well. Its not like this guy isnt getting a fair shake around the league. All he has shown is he does not have the ability or drive to stay on a NBA roster for very long. Yes he is athletic. That doesnt make you a great player, nor does it mean you automatically deserve to have a bunch of chances to make the NBA.
You could say the Rox should have an athletic young wing player to develop, but that has nothing to do with Gerald Green. He is not the kind of player that would get anywhere close to 14 min a game for this team. Plus, you need to get over the fact that you think Shane should only play 20 min a game. Most fans, and every coach he has played for disagrees with you. His defense alone should keep him on the floor much longer then that, especially if the opposing team has two decent wing players.
So you're going to tell me a guy like Ariza in La can play close to 20 mins a night, but on this atheletically challenged team someone like him can't? Whether you agree or not and we both have our different opinions that this team should have that slashing young wing. I like the way wafer has stepped up and played pretty well. That's what this team needs throughout the season. A guy who won't just settle for long jumpers. Back to shane. Shane is the kind of player who's production don't increase nor decrease with minutes. In fact, that's what is pretty good about him. As far as defense keeping him on the floor, if and when Ron gets healthy, he's just as good of a defender. So saying he has to play 30mins or more because of defense, doesn't work. I think when everyone is healthy and if wafer continues to improve, Battier will be at 20-25 mins a night. Artest and Tracy will command about 32 mins or so. That will keep people fresh and ready for the playoffs. Now in the playoffs you might see someone get squeezed for minutes, but adelman has always used 10 players through the season. That was his deal in portland and sacramento and I don't think it will change once this team get healthy.
someone like Ariza would be ideal, someone with some length, strength, and can is athletic. someone like mac, but healthy and on younger legs.

The problem of the rox recently has been the inability to surround yao and tracy with guys who can make up for their lack of atheleticism. Guys dont have to jump out the gym and be dumb as a box. i'm the type of guy that thinks if you start with a guy with some physical tools and he has a good work ethic, then coaches can get alot of bang for the buck. For some reason, this team has found it better to put 1-d type of guys out there with tracy and yao. You can look at a team like Utah for example. During the stockton/malone era, they had a slower, plodding type of team. they played hard as with any sloan led team, but alot of times, they got out atheleted. When they started going to the finals, they had a nice combo with anderson, russell, and even the backup pg i cant remember. After that era came to a close, they revamped and now are very, very atheletic. from the pg to the center. They are more dangerous as a team now than in the other era because now they have long players that can finish, fill the break and make plays only atheletes can make. On the other hand, the rox have beenscared of those kinda guys. A good coach will take those atheletes and mold them. The old portland team was full of horses and adelman got to the finals twice. The sacramento team wasnt as much, but they had better shooters. When they played La and they couldve won at least 1 series, they kinda got out atheleted also. Ariza was sitting there for the taking, but the rox never made a play for a guy because he wasnt a 3pt shooter. He may not, but the guy is long, always been a good defender, young, explosive, and is getting better which is the important thing.
I was saying its fine to want an athletic young wing player, just that that player wouldnt be Gerald Greene. He is who this thread was about to start with. Ariza would be great, I was just saying Greene wouldnt. Yet people here treat him like a potential stud when he has proven to be nothing but a end of the bench kind of guy. As for Battier, I see around 28-32 min a game for him with situations where Tmac, Ron and him are all on the floor at the same time. He more then anyone seems insistant on feeding and refeeding Yao the ball down low. Plus other then Brooks, I am more confident about his three ball falling then anyone else on the team. As for defense, he is very different then Artest. Battier seems to use position more and just try to be in the face of any shooter. Artest gambles more and gets more steals but also seems to give up more uncontested shots. Both are great defenders and how is it bad to have two great defenders on the court at the same time.
I've said it before, its not about yao. Tracy feeds yao better than anyone on the team. When Yao works for the ball, he gets it, when he dont, he dont. The thread was about green, but the whole deal is when he said a young atheletic wing that will get to the basket.
