I wasn't speaking about Morey but Hollinger's draft ratings dismissing players to the bottom or leaving them unranked. According to Hollingers, Brooks, Landry, Hill and Budinger should have been busts. They were all dismissed as bottom of the barrel players.

Some fans place too much emphasis on Hollinger's draft rater dismissing players.

Oh no, Brooks is unranked really low but Fazekas is ranked as a lottery pick by Hollinger and available in the 20s. Should fans panic based on Hollinger's ratings?

There have been several unranked players that outperformed many of the higher rated guys. It's not a death sentence for Alabi.

6.2 rebs and 2 blks in 25 mins. Thats pretty good and its no accident the seminoles led college basketball in defense. He's an instant defender this year. When i watched the tape, he reminds me of Bynum. He's methodical in his postups, he plays to his size by keeping his hands up all the time. Even being methodical, he has a good feel for the game and anticipates better than one would think. His offense is further along than what people thought at first. He has a nice mid range shot and is a good free throw shooter. He has the little jump hook in his reptoire also. Now I'm saying all of this because i think he can play right now 15-20 mins a night. With offensive guys like brooks, martin, scola, and chase, a guy like alabi fits like a glove to spell yao. As i said last year, the loss of yao was bigger on the defensive end more than offensive. The rockets could insulate themselves from this problem by having a guy who can protect the rim when yao goes out or down. The rockets should also add a guy like fasenko or mbenga for added depth on the frontline.

We are almost set at all positions if Scola and Lowry are resigned, i think we should draft what´s best available at that point, and then we have untill the deadline to decide weather our draftee is better or worse than our sub at the moment. And think to trade our sub at that time if our draftee ends up very reliable which i doubt.

And if Yao comes along slowly or hurts his foot again, how set are the rockets in the rim protector department? If the rockets can add some shotblocking length and size in the frontcourt, guys like Battier, Hayes, Ariza and Lowry's on the ball defense becomes dramatically better, the teams total defensive rotations get better as well. I was sick of the layup drilll by oppossing teams this last season.

Glad to know I'm not the only one high on Alabi, but you don't take him at 14. You try to trade to down to later teens/early twenties and take him there.

If you watch the highlights of George on nbadraft.net, he looks very smooth. Nice J and very in-control, but with surprising athleticism. He also has an above-average A/TO ratio. Optimistically he could be another Danny Granger, though with players like that, work ethic is probably the most critical factor. Very hard to tell that from highlights. I think he's rising a little too high now, with some talk that GS might even want to take him at #6. If we can snag him at #14, I think a sensible deal would be to then trade him to GS in a package deal for Cousins if GS can get him at that spot.

I think the Rox aren't trying to win the championship this year without Yao, though they are building for a future without him. I.e., I don't think the Rox will sacrifice much of the future to have a top center ready to go this year, in case Yao gets hurt again.

Thats easy to say, but with teams like miami and san antonio not too far behind, you might risk him being gone. He goes to san antonio and they have a person to guard the rim when duncan is away or out . Now there defense is better and thats been their weakness over the last couple of years. If you can move back thats cool, but if you cant, 14 is a good spot for him i think.
