Wow thank you for putting me in my place. You really do know how to put someone down - especially when I didnt even make the pissing in the wind comment. You know there have been a few positives to CD's tenure too. Have you bothered to look at those?? But since you are going to replace him eventually, you dont need to worry about that huh? Thx MCB
Instead of insultintg me why don't you impress me with a list of CD's achievements. I know that you didn't make the pissing in the wind comment, it's just that what with you being a dog and all it seemed apropos. It also explains why you kee your nose so far up the other senior members butts...
Damn that hurts. Whats a "kee"? Your going to get flamed here pretty quickly haus..... And throwing out lame insults is going to get you banned back to trollville faster than you can say CD.
Ooh nice one....got me bad... I must have not typed in the "p" and for those of us with the canine IQ that would pretty much be a deal breaker...still waitng for the list of CD's achievments...until than, keep it real, dog...
drexler barkley pippen francis 3 future hall of famers in case you didnt know.... Now you are going to rip into how the players didnt perform. barkley never took us to the next level. pippen quit on us. etc. My point is CD made bold moves to get us marquee players. Like I said before, EVERY GM in the NBA has made both good and bad moves. It will happen when you are GM for the Rockets too.
CD is a very well-known and respected GM. If I'm not mistaken Rudy T. had the last word on player acquisitions, contracts and extensions. Every GM has made mistakes, at least CD hasn't made some of the boneheaded moves like Pat Riley, and the GM of the Grizzlies before West got there. Just about every team has cap albatrosses on their teams, the Rockets are no different. As for the whole status thing, it really need not apply, Clutch has been thinking about doing away with the post count (at least he has said so in threads past). Drewdog is the type of poster who will bluntly tell you if he disagrees with your post, that too is part of the BBS. You're free to post your opinion, but you're also free to flame anyone anytime you'd like. As for the coaching search, I'm not too concerned about it, I'm more concerned about if there are going to be any roster moves. You could put Red Auerbach or John Wooden on the bench but it still comes down to the players on the court executing the plays.
Novak, I agree with you mostly, although I do think that CD is in iver his head having to handle a major commodity like Yao. It is the talent that wins at the end of the day, but the inmates truly do seem to be running the asylum. I hope that whoever makes the decisions around here keeps the post count and the whole status thing. Drewdog wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Than how could he take a leak?
I really don't want to get into all of this , but this is the way i see it. Every gm has their moments if they last long enough in this game. Sometimes the last a long time and really do good jobs, like Mr West, or sometime they stay around and make crappy moves, like Baylor and Unsle, but every gm makes mistakes, even the good ones. Jerry West- He's known as the man who has made a deal with the devil. Looking at his his resume of deals like getting Magic,Worthy,Kareem,Kobe and Shaq would qualify him as being one of the best, but look what happened last yr with the Grizzlies. He drafted a pf in Gooden despite having a very good one in Gasol and another young undeveloped one in Swift. He coupled that by trading away Gooden and Girichek for Mike Miller. West also drafted George Lynch, Peeler and traded away Jones and Campbell for Rice. He's had his ups, but he's also had his downs also. Don Nelson- He's known for having a eye for talent by drafting guys like Hardaway,Mullin,Richmond and also trading for Terry Cummings in Milw and also finding Dirk and making a trade and getting a pick from the Bucks. He also traded Richmond the all star for Billy Owens. He also traded the ROY in Chris Webber for a solid player like a healthy Googs, but then he traded Googs for Donyell Marshall, then retired. He's also the guy that traded Sam Cassell and some other players for Shawn Bradley. Also drafted Cato and traded him for Chris Antsey. No matter how highly a gm is rated, its really a yr to yr evaluation on him. Right now for the last couple of yrs, cd and rudy t(who had the final say so) haven't did a good job. If not for the stupid contracts given to taylor,Norris, and the trade for Rice, this team would be in a position to add a max type fa this yr. Had Hakeem been resigned for 2 yrs and 8 mill a pop,Taylor,Norris, and Anderson been allowed to walk, we would have over 12mill ready to fork over. I still don't understand the Taylor deal especially after the team had Thomas and drafted Griffin, but thats beside the point. So far, the only gm that has done a good job are Rod Thorn and Popovich. Although Dumars successor pulled a Jerry West like move 6 yrs ago, his team is sitting at home like the others. There is no consolation to the team that comes in 2nd place this yr or any other yr. Right now, the drafting of Collier and the poor contracts make CD look bad, but if the rockets win a championship, then he looks like the smartest gm in the world.
