I don't care much as to whether Landry is the go to guy at the end of games. I believe Landry has the potential to be the first option that the Rockets look to score in 1-on-1 situations during the course of the entire game. The guy is taking plenty of shots going 1-on-1 and scoring at an amazing efficiency (22.9 points per 36 minutes, .634 TS%, only 10.2% Turnover rate). These numbers are better than even Yao Ming's rather amazing efficiency (21.1 points per 36 minutes, .618 TS%, 16.0% Turnover rate being the only weakness). Of course, Landry is not the defensive presence or defensive rebounder that Yao is and one may argue that some of Landry's points came against less defensive attention or against backups, but at least there is an argument that Landry can be a pretty damn good option 1/option 1a as a post-up scorer. And by the way, Landry's numbers this season have compared favorably to Amare Stoudemire's, which are also great. It is still VERY early, but it does show something. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/stoudam01.html As far as go-to guy at the end of games: He can be in some situations, but it's harder for a post-player to be the go-to guy in a situation like the last possession of today's game-- 3 seconds left on the clock. I remember Yao did it one game with a catch and shoot turnaround J, but he's 7'6'' and it's easier to just over guys that way. Landry can certainly be a guy you want to look to, say, in the last 2 or 3 minutes of a game, though.
I find myself being very confident that good things will happen when Landry gets his hands on the ball. He is extremely efficient and doesn't have very many mental lapses.
No it isn't... Landry is our best player and our go to guy... He is the ONLY guy on this team who is unstoppable.
Those guys CAN'T do what Carl does as consistently... seriously, they are not even in Landry's league.
Surprising and highly pleasing. CH's comments about him are correct. In the last seconds,it is harder for a post player to get off a shot. If he gets open,he should get the ball for the final possession IMO.
Landry, is doing great... He's picked up his game and he's bring that energy that you look for.... But he's not the official go to guy.... The Go to guy is that guy that's going to get that ball down the strech every single time and you play off of him... EVERY game... that's not Landry.. So far this season a different person has stepped up to be the Go To Guy on each game... In some games it's been Trevor, in others it's been Brooks or Scola and I believe on one occassion it's been Chase.. On each pre-game you can can the opposing team announcers even say that this team does not have a Go To Guy and that makes it difficult to Scout them for the 4th quarter. So as I stated before.. It's go to by committe.. Which it should be... Who's ever hot you feed them... See before you had So called SUPERSTARS that's how the game was played... You keep feeding the hot man until he ran dry.... Now we have so called Superstars or Go to Guys... This is why some of the Old School Teams won so much.. They actually played as a team and that's why I love this team so much. T-Man
