While you're arguing the obvious, Morey is working on finding a way to bring in a strong PF to start next to Yao. Sadly the OP is correct. Even though some of us are hesitant to let go of our assets at PF one of them is going to be gone if the right trade presents itself in front of Mr. Morey. All that he has been targeting have been PF/C with height and athleticism; Joakim Noah, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, and even Marrese Speights. He wants someone that can go up against the front court of the Lakers without losing a valuable asset like Landry or Scola but that is exactly what it's going to come down to, imo. That is also why it's taking longer than usual to get rid of a guy you know for a fact will never play for the team again. He's waiting for the right trade and once that comes, if it does before February 18th, it'll be major. And one of those two players will no longer be here.
Primum non nocere - Latin for first, do no harm. That is how you make a good trade. So what are the least vital items to give up? Will Conroy, Joey Dorsey, Jermaine Taylor, Brian Cook. What are vital items that don’t hurt? Tracy McGrady’s expiring contract, Trevor Ariza (who imo hurts this team worse than Rafer ever could have). I say trim the fat, package them up and ship them all off for greener pastures. The biggest three to give up are Tracy, Brian and Trevor. Trevor is a good bargain who imo would do well in a system that required him to not carry an offensive burden. He belongs somewhere else. If Morey does believe in trading players such as Rafer for steals like Lowry, I hope he does this year before I have to see another brick hit the Toyota Center floor.
