oh really? I'd like to see which league's draft you are talking about.......

if what you said is true, then theres no point in even having a draft...everyone might as lose hope of getting someone good in the draft anyways...not to even mention rebuilding a team through a draft...

(and please lets not talk about second rounders......most of them aren't even worth 500000k cash...)

Sorry but you aren't going anywhere with that kind of argument.

First of all, Morey just won Yahoo NBA Executive of the Year last year...he isn't dumb enough to go for a 100-year-project like Darko or Bargnani was when everyone knows the team is in full win-now mode. In fact, most posters on our board would more tend to think Morey would get us a Brandon Roy than a Tyrus Thomas. Whether thats true or not, it certainly means we aren't gonna be getting a Shelden Williams...lol

and plus...........also Morey's track record suggests he's never really followed the media consensus on a player.....after all...why not just hire Chad Ford to do the drafting and why hire all the workout scouts and assistant GMs to scout the players in the first place?

Morey's gone with Aaron Brooks, who was supposed to be a midget undersized 12th man meant to go in the middle of the second round, Carl Landry was projected to be late 2nd round to undrafted...etc etc.

Even if we do go with your view....then Morey would have at least as good a chance of drafting a Carmelo as a Darko...

Thanks for proving my point. Amare sucks. Your trade sucks. This thread sucks.

No we trade one of our undersized PF Landry(6'8) or Scola(6'9) to make room for one of our Potential PF which could include: Monroe(6'11), Montiejunas(7'0)Cousins(6'11) Ed Davis(6'10) Derrick Favors(6'10) or Cole Aldrich(6'11)....having one of these guy's in the paint with Yao = Laker Killers!!!!!

Trading Scola would seem to make sense. He's older, he's an expiring contract - which could be a boon to an acquiring team and might make him difficult to re-sign this summer, and he actually has trade value as a player (as opposed to a Brian Cook type), and there has been so much talk of a "better" PF coming via trade - Bosh, Amare - or draft (though finding a better PF through draft is quite a crapshoot).

In reality, the Rockets should be focused on their weak positions - namely wing and center. They have a trade asset that could net them players in return at those positions (T-Mac), but they also have to be wary of the luxury tax, which Les might not be opposed to going over (and losing out on the check teams under the luxury tax get every year), but not by a long shot (which would effectively double the penalty - pay dollar for dollar a crapload, and don't share in the "profits" from other teams overspending).

This is why DM's job is so tough.

Personally, there are only 2 players on the team I wouldn't trade under any scenario - Brooks and Lowry. We finally have solid, serviceable PGs, neither of whom I expect to ever be seriously overpaid, if overpaid at all.

If forced to, I would trade Landry, but only if getting someone like Bosh in return. I would not trade Landry for Amare. Amare is Landry 2.0, but has the same weaknesses and gets paid 10x as much...no thanks. I'd rather keep Scola to re-sign in the offseason, but would include him in a trade that upgrades us at C, Wing or PF, as necessary.

I'd prefer to keep Budinger - solid, young and cheap.

Well seeing that this draft is PF heavy, the power forward we should be looking to replace is actually Joey Dorsey. A trade I would look into would be to package him and Brian Cook for Raja Bell. However, has to happen around the trade deadline because of Bells wrist injury, but at worst his contract expires at end of season and the potential reward is higher. For Golden State they get an expiring contract and a young athletic big for cheap.

Wrong, we need a starting SG, let JT develop as a back-up while letting Budinger come off the bench / Brooks combined with Lowry
We also need a starting SF, have Ariza come off the bench and let Battier be the occasional defensive specialist and 3pt threat when Trevor is off.
Last we need is a back-up center so drafting one might be the best option

Ummm i think its hilarious how for years we would send out your mo taylors, eddie griffins, kenny thomas, stromile swifts, juwon howards, and kelvin catos of the league to play a pedestrian power forward for us. They dont seem to remember that we would just hand the job to any stiff who was 6'8 and could grab an occasional rebound. Now that we finally have two legit power forwards who have chemistry with the team and are damn good NBA players, everyone wants to trade them away for a "superstar" or give up the spot they earned to some draft pick that has proven nothing. Most of the big men that are being listed I would say barely have the skillset of a Kelvin Cato is his prime and y'all are ready to open up a rotation spot for them. Wow. I completely agree with the realistic poster who said dorsey's spot is the one we should be replacing rather than landry or scola.

Morey this and Morey that. How many rings does Morey have? Who signed Ariza? Are the Rockets contenders yet?

This premature worship of Morey is really getting out of hand. For all the hype surrounding him he hasn't shown a ring yet, he hasn't signed a major contract yet which could prove that he is really deserving of all the deifying.

I have nothing personal against DM but he still has to prove how good he is as a GM. His personnel moves have not yet brought the Rockets any closer to the championship -injuries considered or not- so let us give him some time to prove himself before we worship him. I have my own reservations about his moves so let us wait and see and his decisive day is coming soon enough.

We've gone how long without a legit pf and now that we are set at that position you want to trade one? Great thinking.

Amare has stated he doesn't want to play in Houston and to give up Carl Landry. To give up our best player and heart of our team for Amare doesn't make sense. Stats or not, bringing in a big scorer doesn't always lead to championship. Perfect example is Houston Rockets and Charles Barkley.
