I agree about Mad Max - but I must point out that (right or wrong) most people are praising Kobe for is ability to manage his schedule not for getting accused of rape
I know, but if he were a stand up guy like every thought he was, this would not even be discussed. It's a mess he created for himself, so I give him no credit for being able to manage his schedule.
it's not that hard managing your schedule if you have private jets to take you between LA and colorado...
This is very interesting because this article was already posted here maybe two weeks ago. In the last thread on the subject, Max got a decidedly mixed review from posters. Some complained he quit on the team, or that he had a srew loose and was a loser. But many, and possibly most, said they loved Max despite all his problems. In this thread, the Max-lovers are almost all absent and it's nothing but Max-bashing. How is it that two threads on the same subject could have such different tones? Btw, I love Max despite all his problems.
Yeah, I saw him hit big shots occasionally, at the end of games, (even though he would shoot sub-40 percent for the rest of the game). I saw Hakeem do it every night for the entire game, as well as the last play.
Basketball Loser. Ultimate loser move: bailed on the team and city when he was needed most. Life Loser. Given a wonderful physical gift at birth. His athleticism was compared to Jordan's. Millions handed to him; pissed'm away. Father Loser. Worst of all. Criminal Loser. Beats women and kids. Yeah! Hey! Let's help him out!
Hmmm, I am wondering if Charles Manson would get off death row...only if he won a championship for a major franchise.
Vernon Maxwell's 3 pointer off an Hakeem pass late in the shot clock to give the Rockets an 8 point lead in Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals provided me with the moment I knew the Rockets had just won the first championship in major Houston professional sports history. It was a wonderful moment as a Rockets fan and one I've replayed many a time. With that said, Vernon Maxwell is a loser 100% and deserves no sympathy even from his most loyal fans for the way he has pissed away the opportunity that only one in a million are blessed with and for the way he has conducted himself. I don't know the man personally, but we've all heard enough of his on and off the court problems to make a fairly informed opinion on the man. He is a danger to society and to himself. Lock him up and throw away the key.
Vernon will turn it around. He'll solve his problems and become a model citizen. John Lucas turned it around, Lewis Loyd, Mitch Wiggins.. I still would rather have Maxwell than Cuttino or Steve.
Yeah, Vernon Maxwell was a clutch player. He was good a hitting clutch shots, good at clutching his fist to beat his wife, good at clutching the crack pipe, and very good and clutching his money avoiding child support payments. Mad Max deserves no sympathy. He is the sole creator of all his problems and now it is up to him to right the wrong. For Christ sakes, his own son refuses to play basketball so he can avoid being 'anything' like his father! Vernon needs to seek help first before people support him, he has to man up and take care of his responsibilities.
I could never sympathize with a man who strikes a woman out of his own frustrations, I don't care how bad they are. Especially the woman he's married to. I couldn't care careless over such cowardice.
If Mad Max could still hit the 3 as well as he hits women, he'd still be in the league. Dude should have gotten some serious therapy back when he was making all that jack.
Are you outta your mind? You want to help him? Maxwell has been helped all his life. He got a free college education and blew it. He got an NBA championship and blew it. He got married, had kids and blew it. NBA team after NBA team signed him to million dollar contracts hoping he would finally get his act together and help them, and he blew each and every opportunity. He is a janitor now working for his brother and has blown who know how many millions of dollars in his relatively short life. That is the definition of self destructive and pathetic. Maxwell needs to hit rock bottom and stay there for a while, and then he just might have the motivation to get it to together.
MadMax was a good player, he was an intrical part of our 1st championship, but a terrible, terrible, person.
Now come on, I've read many of MadMax's posts and he doesn't sound that bad. Let's not confuse him with Vernon.
