but 6 REBOUNDS and we lost by giving up 3 offensive rebounds, which resorted to wasting 2-3 minutes of game time in a 3pt game. i'm not blaming anyone for that series b/c everybody played below their level, esp. the role players. but 6 rebounds in the deciding game? that's eye-popping to me.
who would you say is the team's best playoff performer since 04-05? it's funny when a poster laughs at his own stupidity
That assumes that there's a weak correlation between T-Mac's shooting and the Rockets winning. If that's true, maybe somebody can post the stats. For the record, I think it's pretty obvious that the Rockets are a much better team when T-Mac distributes the ball. The win-loss record when T-Mac has over 5 assists is pretty conclusive. But there's some other variables in the equation now too. A hugely significant one is obviously going to be Adelman and the new offense he's trying to implement. I think the Rockets are going to do much better without T-Mac with Adelman's system than with Van Gundy's, and I think the record this year shows that.
true, we won what? 20% of our games without tmac under JVG. with adelman, we are 8-7, a whopping 50% winning %. we were 8-4 when the team got better, but 3 of those wins came against the knicks and wolves. if you assume 50% is better, then i guess so. that's just going from straight up garbage to mediocre.
Part of that is that under Van Gundy Yao wasn't allowed to collect offensive rebounds underneath the opponents basket. Instead he ran back to set up on defense, which is going to adversely affect his rebound totals. Regardless, the way I see it is that 29 points balances out coming up 4 rebounds short of the guy's season average.
This Tmac talk is still a topic???? okay we get it....TMac is polarizing. I like Tmac, I like him alot.....mostly because I have seen and know what he is capable of. I don't think he's lazy though, he's extremely over confident......and not as smart as he either thinks he is or wants to be. His pull up J is annoying at times......but his pull up J is what got him to be T-Mac. No doubt he breaks my heart at times, but I have come to the conclusion, that Tmac is not Jordan, Kobe, or Lebron, he never will be, and never was going to be.......as soon as you tmac haters realize this, it will be alot better, regardless of how much he makes. my two pennies.
Yao, IMO. Sure the 2nd round virgin tried hard, not hard enough HEY MAYBE IF HE HIT THOSE 4 FREETHROWS HE MISSED IN GAME 7 THE ROCKETS WOULDVE GONE TO THE SECOND ROUND
Well if you can't win an argument, I suppose meaningless, sarcastic jabs are as good of a reply as anything else. Eh, AS? Absolutely... they give us everything they have. You can't ask for more. Rafer is pushing it, though... I mean he HAS disgraced the team and the league in some ways. There's the whole stabbing incident(s) from this summer, for one, and the crap from Toronto. Plus, last year, he was arguably the biggest liability in the starting lineup of any playoff team in the league. I've cussed out Rafer to no end when watching games, and I hate how he sometimes doesn't shoot the ball at the end of a quarter to try to save his FG%, but I know he wants to win for us. I'm trying as hard as I can to not hate him, but I still at least support him, and I would sure as **** never make r****ded nicknames for him or dedicate my BBS signature to his shooting woes while still calling myself a fan. ... I don't understand why people dislike Luther, though. He is our best non-PF/C off the bench, and often a big reason for how we manage to stay afloat during the times that McGrady is sitting out.
I would argue that it's more though to start counting wins/losses after the Denver game, which is when the team started to gel and the team started to really implement the new system. Prior to that the Rockets just sucked, for whatever reason. And if the argument is that the new system is making the difference than it would seem to make sense to only examine those games where the Rockets are actually using it.
In Orlando at one point he was better than Kobe and NBA scoring leader as soon as he came to the rox ITS J, AFTER J, AFTER J. (MAKES ONE), HEATCHECK, CLANK, ANOTHER J, DRIVE, MISS BUT GOT FOULED, MISS 1 OUT OF 2 Why does tmac choke when he plays vs the best players? <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z-Du9fRaKWw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z-Du9fRaKWw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Oh yes I remember that, but you also fail to note he had 6 rebounds did not show up against Boozer on the defensive end and was unable to get close to critical rebounds on the several of the last plays despite being the tallest player in the ball game. I could go on but you know its Yao i don't hold these things against him, neither does most of the rest of the board. Where as when Mcgrady does something bad we always pounce and dissect. Honestly look at how he played in that game 7 was he really at fault for the loss there? Singularly himself? I note that antisonic is yet to point out why his set critieria does not include Yao. Last time I checked trying hard wasn't part of his listed criteria and also last time I checked trying hard didn't get Yao anywhere this season except into the injury list. The guy is an awesome player but honestly he suffers the same problem as T-mac (Large injuries, flat games out of no where, regularly getting schooled by some players). You can point all you like to T-mac's bad games. But then I note noone really likes pointing out Yao's bad games at the same rate they point out Mcgradys
that's the thing i don't get. people can make excuses for yao (that's an excuse) but tmac not doing more than 29 and 13 (b/c most people on this board blame tmac for the game 7 loss). your argument for part of the reason is that van gundy didn't allow him to do that is false. yao average 10.9 REBOUNDS for the series (that's 11 boards a game). yet on game 7 he only got 6 (more importantly only FOUR defensive rebounds?). 4 rebounds short is a lot. we lost b/c we couldn't grab one of the 3 boards at the end. we lost 2-3 minutes of game-time. we lost momentum. that was the main reason we lost more than anything for game 7. we got 33 boards. they got 40. when we get outrebounded, we often LOSE. and that's what happened. our best rebounder got 6, 5 less than his average. and the stretch that cost us the game involved 3 crucial def. boards. tmac hasn't proven jack. but yao has done faltered more in the playoffs. that's why we need our role players to be better if we want to advance.
you see what i mean with these types of posts? people on this board nit-pick tmac and tmac only. and yet he was the ONLY player who posted a CAREER game in game 7 (29 and 13 pts--that's a career game even for kobe in the playoffs). but what can you do when fans are as stupid as this? if you saw the game, that was not where the game was lost. but fans like this would nit-pick ANYTHING to blame on tmac. if you want to blame on tmac, blame him for the road games. he was sensational at home.
How did he disgrace the league. "Innoncent til proven guilty" Case was dismissed http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/02/29/its-official-rafer-alston-didnt-stab-a-guy/
You mean kinda like he did against Dirk on both ends of the floor? ... Oh... wait... Anyways, enough arguing about McGrady. I don't even care what you think about McGrady's game. The point is that you should support him as an important player on your favorite team. We shouldn't even be having this argument. Maybe you could be pointing out some of your concerns about his game, but a true fan would absolutely NOT have the attitude towards him that you and sonic do. Fact.
your lack of knowledge shows up in this post again? look at 82games.com, the % of Js he took in orlando as compared to houston is virtually IDENTICAL. 75% in orlando, 77% in houston.
Because it is Yao's team, Twack even said so. Therefore everyone gets on his ass because he's the one who's supposed to help him out.
Hmmm, I didn't know the case was dropped. OK, well then never mind that part of my post, but way to circumvent the point.
ok, so last yr people hated on him for saying it's "his" team. so now he's saying it's "yao's team" and he gets hated on too? why didn't people get on yao for not helping tmac out last yr? or 04-05?
