Pretty much my opinion. Jefferson is a quality talent, his injury issues should hopefully lessen when on a team where he has quality and experienced help. It'd be like a Twin Towers sequel with Jefferson and Yao.

Trade for Kevin Love? Unless you are talking about trading Dorsey and some of the other guys buried on the bench, drugs are bad, m'kay.

Al Jefferson's game reminds of Moses Malone's.

Wouldn't you want to see how he looks post-ACL repair?

unless you do, in fact, trade yao for big al, it creates a bit of an offensive conundrum.

they are both low block players. in most offenses you cannot have offensive players occupying both low blocks at the same time, because it results in poor spacing and allows defensive bigs to help each other too easily. so you'd be forced to move either al or yao out of the blocks, or alternate who occupies that space, while whichever player is not stationed down there would presumably be shooting a 10-15 foot jump shot.

now, i'm certainly not saying scola is a better player than al, not by a long shot. but considering scola's offensive game is a bit more versatile and non-prescriptive, and we already know he can hit the 10-15 foot jump shot, get offensive rebounds on the weakside, and pass the ball, I really don't see al offering an upgrade worth breaking up the rockets' core for.

simply put, al is a great player in this league, but we already have a player who does a lot of what he does in Yao. We certainly don't need two of them, not at the price we'd have to pay.

So you would trade Scola who has been nothing but consistent ever since he got here for someone who just torn is ACL and we won't know how he plays until he steps on the court.. HMMMMM very interesting.

BTW it may fail though. Just by looking at the trade you proposed that 2 for 2 may not work. McGrady's contract alone is huge. I don't think the money works for this trade itself.

I would do the trade any day of the week. Scola is good, but even 3/5 of an al jeff is better than scola. He has a post game, he has amazing defense, and he rebounds better than anyone we have had since Hakeem.

With that said, I do not see why they would do this trade. It just doesn't make sense for mini to hand us there best player.

lol, more amazing than the ridiculous lopsidedness of the thread-starting proposal is the fact that people here are actually arguing that they wouldn't trade scola for al jefferson. you know you overrate your own players when...

I just don't see why Minnie does it. McHale might have been really attracted to a player like Scola, but McHale is gone. Ain't happening, IMO.

He should be good to go after the surgery. Leon Powe had it. Willis McGahee also had it (NFL running back). They're doing quite well since.

I'd rather have a 24 year old Jefferson than an injury prone going on 29 Yao. Don't get me wrong I love Yao. But his injuries are hamstringing us. And it's definitely not his fault, he's just too dang big. The more miles he puts on his body the less he's going to be able go in the game.

That rumor was put out there to draw teams out of the weeds on what they would offer Minny for Al. There's no other reason for it.

how much does al jefferson make?

    how much does scola make?

given the construction of our team, is there an effective way to take advantage of jefferson's game, assuming you still have Yao?

is the upgrade at the PF position worth the salary commitment and the opportunity cost of not upgrading at a weaker position?

In the important minutes of a game, is there an effective lineup that brings all your best options to bear and offers a substantial upgrade in mutually complementary skills over what you have now? would there be a better lineup available with an upgrade at a different position?

these are all important questions to consider. I'm not entirely convinced the rockets need an upgrade at that spot. I'd rather get an efficient SG with that money honestly, as I think backcourt scoring is severely lacking with the current roster.

Al Jefferson was McHale's guy. He traded Garnett for him and was building around him. The rumor is that the new GM is wanting to move Jefferson. I don't believe it. I think the new GM is just fishing to see who wants Al and what he is worth. Trading him and the pick for Amare makes no sense whatsoever for the Minny franchise.........unless they are folding up shop and closing the franchise.

Here are the teams I am expecting for us to deal with, because they have lost money or losing money.

Golden State - stephen jackson and Anthony Randolph
    Nets - Vince Carter
Bucks - michael Redd and Gadzuric
    Hornets - Chandler
Pacers - Troy Murphy and jeff foster
