I agree it's not about structure. But it's not about patience either.

I don't think posting up Howard will ever create an efficient offense, no matter how patient we are. The whole NBA community has been "patient" for almost a decade to wait for Howard to develop a low post game. If it has not happened yet, there is a very good chance that it will never happen.

That doesn't mean Howard can't have a big contribution to our half court offense. We just need to use his strengths and hide his weaknesses.

I remember last year they tried for some time to post up Patterson. It almost never scored. But I could understand that Patterson was a young player and they hoped he could develop. Howard is an old dog and not likely to learn new tricks.

Dwight's offense has been fine, it's not like we're running the offense through him, the 30% on the season (and 25% 3 of the last 4 games) from 3 isn't, we're losing because we're missing open 3's by the dozen.

Agreed. We lost to OKC without WB.

Gotta disagree with this. Lin doesn't have to play run n' gun at all. He's very good at PnR.

Lin has been our best 3pt shooter thru 7 games and 6 preseason games (probable since the AllStar game last season). Maybe we should start him and get the beard to set him up for open 3s more.

Only thing is Beard is injured at the moment and we've got no playmakers apart from Lin himself. Does McHale know how to run 3pt sets to give Lin the open look and instruct him to shoot instead of drive?

i really hope we stop this experiment against Toronto. If we give up 10-15 points in the 1st qtr there is another chance we could also lose this one (just like against the Lakers).

We need to start strong, take a massive lead and come out with a good win to reverse some of the damage already done. Can't afford to lose this one and get on a 3 game losing skid. These types of losing streaks are hard to get out of and normally comes in 5-7 package.

I don't think McHale specifically instructed Lin to pass on open shots, it's probably to his confidence issues and being too unselfish.

I feel like when Lin gets the ball, his first second and the third options are to drive drive and drive, and then maybe once in a blue moon when he feels hot he shoots

I'd love to see them play five games or so with:

    1. the exact same offense from last year (tempo and speed)
    2. while only ever having either Howard or Asik on the floor

Just give that a try and see what it looks like. I think the whole project would look much better. I don't think I'm going to get to see that though.

He does warrant getting the ball more, it's just how you get him the ball! When he is runing on the fast break (which he does almost everytime) they need to get it to him because he is working harder than all of them! If you watched the Clippers game you saw they eventually did start giving it to him on the break but he was so used to them not getting it to him he bobbled a few passes

Overall i think we will be fine, nobody on this roster really knows how to play with an effective big man that can finish strong, so practice should help, they have to get the lobs down, they have to know when your running plays with D12 you don't throw it at his legs you throw it at the rim!
