Can we dump the Darius Miles talk pleeease? The thread was started about who on the team would step up and play above expectations and it gets semi-derailed into the umpteenth debate about Darius Miles. Haven't we already beaten that subject to death enough times?

After the season starts and when he has his first 20/10 game, someone can start another thread in the NBA forum and we can slug it out there on what a mistake was not to get him.

there will be some natural imporvement in luther, hopefully he is given some consistent minutes. i see him playing with span a bit off the bench in a combo backcourt spectacular. lol.

i think the important thing is that our older players maintain their production, we could ill afford to have them decline on the court.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, and your positive comment. But I have one thing to say

    BLAAAAAAAH

    your wrong.

Call me a fool, call me Mr Negative 2 (Gundy being the original) but there's no way we even make the WC finals. Best we can hope for is 2nd round.

It's been said so many times, but we are still way short of contention against the elite teams in the league. Depressing as it may be to admit it.

Like this thread implies, we need someone to play out of their skin outside of McGrady, Ming and Battier (all of whom need to be amazing). And who are we relying on to do that on a consistent basis... Alston?

    Give me a break.

Ow, now I see ... it 's because "daddy" is a proven coach that "sonny boy" is a decent player? Sorry dude, I would never take dunleavy anyway, even when he is smart and skilled player which I doubt a lot! And if we can afford Randolph, no big deal ... after season 2007 Hayes will be our starting PF in 2008!

There's people saying that we are at a disadvatage because we don't have a PF...

But the fact of the matter is none of the elite Western teams (Suns, Mavs, Spurs) can matchup with our C spot.

Mavs - Yao has always owned them.
Spurs - Yao will eat them alive. If Duncan takes him, then Juho-Horry is cool.
Suns - Again, Yao has been better head-to-head with Amare.

At our other spots, we are solid. Alston, Battier and T-Mac can handle any backcourt. We are a pretty big team with Yao, T-Mac, Battier, and Alston both having at least above average height.

Finally, the reason I think we can win it is because we will be the best defensive team in the West. Our record with Yao and T-Mac healthy is eye-popping, despite an even poorer supporting cast than we currently have. Consider the fact that this is the best supporting cast they've ever had, and they've already played up to contenders in the past.

Ah, with the Mavs, not only has Yao owned them, Tracy owned Shawn Bradley.
