It's not bad rules. The exceptions are designed specifically for teams that are over the cap. If you could use them AND stay under the cap THAT would be a bad rule.
Agreed.. we need more Vets down low to teach the younger guys. Boozer & Nelson veterans are needed highly in the playoffs
I haven't read this thread, but let me say I don't care about the rationale. I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than see this guy in a Rockets jersey.
As an experienced vet he would help tutor the youngins, but I have a hard time seeing myself cheering him own given I despised him as a Jazz player.
Btw, that was my first post ever, but I've been a looonnngg time daily reader of this site. Some could argue obsessive reader. Gotta love clutchfans and the Rockets.
slow down. Don't hate the rules. Exceptions count as salary at the beginning of the free agent season, if the some of them takes you over the cap. You can choose to renounce them to create actual cap space, or use them to go over the cap. simple.
Gotta start somewhere, man. I joined in 2007 after college graduation, languishing in a research lab after not having been admitted to medical school two years in a row. We had just lost to the Deron-Boozer Jazz in a heartbreaker series. Patrick Patterson just committed to Kentucky, snubbing my alma mater. It was a putrid summer for me. Things got much better from there on. Thanks, Clutchfans!
So what, I don't see why you have to renounce them prior to placing a bid on a released player where you may not win the bid. That seems bad for the team trying to improve and bad for the team that released the player because now a team that may have wanted to bid won't bid for fear they may not win and get nothing. Boozer gets his guaranteed money either way, so it doesn't affect players. Renouncing something once you get something seems to make sense. Renouncing something where you may not get anything in return is just stupid.
Frankly, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use an exception to make a bid on a released player even if you didn't have any cap space. The exception should be useable in any manner to help you replace the player you lost that created an exception for you.
LOL take out the "zer" and i might agree with you LOL. As a matter fact, scratch that.... replace the "B" with "L" and "z" with "s" and combined the "o"s into one "o" LOL.
Can't believe I'm saying this but with booze and boozer we make it to the second round next year.... Can't live in the past, I'm down if it helps the team
You didn't miss anything. You are on a site full of uspet fans. So any player that is not a all-star or near all star will be struck down with a vengance right now... haha Any move Morey makes right that does not involve getting a star player back will be over criticized and ripped apart as a terrible move by all these GMs on here. I don't know if we get him, but I would think a PF that has proven he can shoot from outside at a consistent rate, rebounds decently and is a vet, would be helpful to us if we can get him on a good deal. Adding more 'productive players' to the roster. Depth.
People need to get over this thing they have against players from rival teams. if he comes cheap we can use him. I think he and mo Williams would be a great addition.
