Lowry said he will be ready on Friday, but if he tweaked it and we have a roster spot, just sign someone to a 10 day...just in case. DD
Rafer would be perfect but the Heat have to release him first which they haven't done. Jesus, I hate to say this but we may could possibly use, don't flame me too hard for this...Stephon Marbury. He wasn't THAT terrible for the Celtics late last season and he'd just plug a hole until Lowry is 100%. Our other character guys would keep Marbury in check and AB is clearly team leader so I don't think he'd affect team chemistry any worse than any other back up. Still...Lowry being out probably means more losses in our future, if that happens. (keeping fingers crossed).
A combo guard would probably fit better on the roster instead of one of the three small forwards (take your pick, I don't care which). Perhaps in the off-season we can buy a second round pick and grab Dominique Jones, a 6'4" 205lbs PG/SG who profiles a little like a bigger, more scoring-oriented Lowry? In the meantime, maybe we package Budinger in a deal to move up in the first round for a defensive big, or send Battier or Ariza out in a bigger trade.
I wouldn't mind Garret Temple again but I think he's playing with the Spurs right now and with Parker out I don't think they're releasing him. If they aren't any better than Conroy then I say no way to another D-Leaguer. If it came to that I'd rather let Martin and Budinger play makeshift PG.
Guys, I am not saying anything about the offseason, I am just talking about the rest of THIS season. Not running down an already injured Lowry, or burning out Brooks, who clearly plays better when he gets some rest. DD
That is the question I brought on the game thread, what pg is out there that the team could sign since we do have roster spot? I believe Morey was thinking of signing a veteran C/PF to fill the open spot but a good pg is what is needed since Jordan Hill has played well. Daniels would be a nice pickup, a big pg to spell Brooks.
why waste salary and a roster spot on a third PG when that's probably our strongest 1-2 punch?? It wouldnt make sense, the guy would never play. Brooks easily deserves 35 mins a game and Lowry deserves to get more than what's left, but he'll have to settle for it. Makes more sense to keep pgs stocked on the vipers squad to call one up, such as conroy. As for this season, same thing, just call someone up for 5-7 mins a game. I'm sure there will be nights when we can get away with martin at the point for a few mins. Brooks can play 40 mins easily without getting worn down. Let the backup get 4-5 mins and martin 3-4. I'm not really worried about brooks playing 40 mins while lowry gets better. He's not a physical player, he's basically just running around dribbling or shooting and i'm sure he can do that all day. It's the banging in the post and guys fouling you to the floor that really get to you. Brooks avoids contact at all costs.
Or how about next year we draft this guy, COREY FISHER out off Villanova Pure PG, same playing style as Lowry, he can shoot, one of the best passers in College, not to mention he can play defense really well, and he scores most of his points in the free throw line. so him and Lowry are pretty similar. http://espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36123
Ya'll would like to deny it, but Mike James still has and did have game while he was with us. He just became aa stranger on the bench with the rotation. I bet Lowry plays, but I doubt Morey is planning on signing anyone to a 10-day. Chase can play point for a little bit, Kevin can play extended minutes and Ariza : X can manage the ball a little bit, but I'd rather him not.
