It would be funny if we brought him back on the vet minimum He would be sat next to Unc on the bench most of the time though
At his age and expected role, I think he would be perfect to bring back as third string depth. Someone capable of stepping in for injuries and also doesn't mind not playing for a couple weeks. I'm assuming he'd also love to return on the cheap.
Against the Pacers in the playoffs, Jerome got picked on defensively, and averaged 8 points, 30% FG, 25% 3PT. Trent Jr. against the same Pacers averaged 19 points, 2.6 steals on 52% FG, 50% 3PT.
I think this is the move. Keeping KD fresh for the playoffs is paramount. It would be nice to have a proven commodity that can be thrown into the starting lineup when KD needs a break. This should be Cam's role but the team doesn't seem sold on that.
Cam doesn't seem sold on that as well and can't blame him...his rookie season, Cam was closing some games while Jalen was riding the bench. Don't know what's happening behind closed doors, but seems like the front office is not liking Cam's "response" to his limited role. With the extension of Jabari, I think it's time to move on from Cam and give the young man an opportunity to blossom on another team. Trade him for a future first and use the MLE to sign Finney-Smith and Alexander-Walker/or Gary Trent Jr
if that is the case, and IME can't handle frustrated talented players, then he is not a championship coach. You need to be able to get the most out of all your talent, Kobe Bryant was very similar to Cam as a 1st and 2nd year player but Phil Jackson saw the talent and put him in anyway because that level of competitiveness is rare and needs to be nurtured. Cam and Amen are the two most "GONNA KILL YOU" players on the team - you keep those guys at all costs. DD
I like Cam's potential/talent, but it's not worth to keep a disgruntled player because you'll never get the full version//potential of that player. I wanted Cam to get a shot for a starting position, and maybe front office will make a proposition to him on more playing time/starting opportunities because I don't see KD playing in many back-to-backs this upcoming season. If we bring in Dorian Finney Smith, it's a wrap for Cam...Best to trade him
And that makes the Rockets worse as DFS is not as good as Cam so we get to watch him declilne while Cam gets better and better and better.....terrible decision making. DD
I don’t get the desire to jettison Cam, I wouldn’t unless it’s a clear upgrade. The guy has scoring chops we can use, everyone just has to be on the same page with his role. Ime should look at him as a young gun off the bench who can get buckets.
True...at this juncture, it's about picking the best available player for the role on our team. If Cam doesn't want the role of sparingly play on a championship contender team then we'll have to find someone else who play that role.
