Normal recover from that surgery takes more than 6+ months to be able to actual basketball with the jumping and contact. Even after that, the procedure itself may not provide for full extension of the knee depending on how well it heals. Basically, we cannot depend on Francis. He would a great bonus/lift he came back, but he is not the answer.
Josh Smith is a piece that can bring us alot more upside than a point guard imo. Even Artest is ideal nobody knows exactly where he will be before next season but he surely wont get no max deal because what has he proved in the playoffs to earn such a deal? MLE maybe just a little more is about all he will get. Also I dont want T.J Ford because he has no real upside to our team like Smith or Artest could bring. Getting those 2 has more bonuses with their contract then Ford. I dont see how Ford can have a large contract take in account playoff exp? injuries? that a big risk we cant take. Josh Smith is just a monster who is very active, athletic, fast, size, has the defensive capabilities to mask Yao weakness on defense do to his weak side shot blocking ability. Ron Artest proven defender and 3rd scorer can spread the floor bully people down low. But Ford cant bring us anything that is a huge improvement to even over Alston. Calderon? going to resign with Toronto dont mean he cant be traded.
Seriously, what does Rafer do that Bobby Jackson cannot do? I think at the worst we need to have BJ in crunch time in the 4th quarter and not Rafer.
Adding another scorer is very important. A guy who can shoot and drive is needed, but we need a better passer with a solid outside shot too.
he's 32 and will be an expiring contract. if philly don't think he'll re-sign they'll trade him. get away with hacking.
Max deal? have you seen there salary flexability? We could get him for Landry, Brooks (think Bibby's recent history of nagging injuries) Alston?/Head?Jackson we have the pieces that can equal out to what ever he can ever sign for.
DD, i think the team knows this. they brought in mike james and francis and drafted brooks. none of them have shown to be better than rafer, which is the sad part. the team knows we can't win with rafer at the helm, and has done a lot to change that, and failed. then they traded for ANOTHER pg to challenge rafer and bobby is not getting minutes. the team knows it. it's not something that we're exploring. we know that the past 2 years. we fixed the PF position this year. hopefully PG will be the change for next year. then i think we're good to go.
What a good PG does guys is makes it easier for others to score, he makes them more effective. We desperatly need a player outside of Tmac that can get their own shot as well as set the table for others.... Right now the team is far too easy to guard late. DD
Don't tease me. It is rumored that he has a zero buyout this year if he wants to come back to the NBA... We can not afford to let the window shut praying on Rafer's inconsistency.... IMHO, he makes far too many boneheaded plays at inapprorpiate times..... I would love him as a backup though. DD
Everytime a thread for a new PG comes up, I suggest Calde. I don't think he will resign the raptors. These guys are very loyal to their motherland, and the raptors made the huge mistake of filing a lawsuit against the Spanish federation on Garbajosa's insurance policy. You mess with one, you might as well be messing with all of them. Calderon has even made comments to the spanish press on how great it would be to play with Pau. I posted it on the nba thread a while back. Morey needs to get Scola to start recruiting.
Provided he isn't a ballhog, certainly yes.I feel the ball movement would improve more with a better first pass PG with an outside shot, but I'm not against the idea of a 3rd scorer who can play at the 2/3.
