We need a passing PG.....

It is a weakness what if T-Mac gets injured again? You want to go with the players that dont have to strain themselves just to get a good playoff seed.
This team is build around primairly on T-Mac's ability and the structure has no real set back court for the long term that can mask any weakness. With Artetst not only do you mask weaknesess but you gain stregnths and more options as well as filling in for the player that would need to step up incase of a injury. It makes too much sence. If T-Mac goes down no other player we could get besides Artest would still give other teams hell. Even a true point guard in T-Mac's absence dont gaurantee us a top 4 playoff spot.

 

We would have our own big 3. Our defense would be the best in the last 40+ years. We would have a team built around Yao/T-Mac/Artets ready to crush the opposing competetion. We would have the ultimate role players Battier/Scola we would have a combination at the 4 spot who can cancel out the best power forwards in the game. We would have capable point guards to run the offense incase of a injury. Artest would provide a post up game in case Yao goes down. Artest is basically the 3rd anchor of all around of what this team needs or when someone needs to step up. Battier/Artest is probably the best 2 wing defenders in the game. Battier is a team defender/Artest is a individual defender for isolation plays run againt us. Yao is the man down low. This would be a 70+ win team when they are all on the same page. We have the pieces that could possibly sweep Boston if they wanted to.

 

Are u kidding me? Artest is a better defender, scorer and just player. Shane makes 5m which is what a lot of bench players make. I like shane and all his intangibles, but Ron has a lot of intangibles also. What the point of having a 6'8 Battier when u can't punish teams from putting 6'3 guys on him?

The purpose of artest is for toughness , scoring and just his all around play. U get artest and now tracy plays 33mins, artest 35 mins and shane 28mins which would be fine. We know Tracy is going to miss 8 games and leave 3 more. Having Artest guards against fall off. I'm not saying he's the mesiah, but he's everything the rox lack. Yeah he's a little off, but mad max played here and the team won. This team needs a tough guy. Teams wouldn't fould yao and tracy like they do. We would always have at least 2 creators on the floor and the defense would be just as good.

DD- When the rox play sa,dallas,la, or phoe, who guards the tracy-artest combo? The spurs have bowen, but who does he guard ron or tracy? Dallas doesn't have a answer, neither do la or phoe. What about going big and playing shane on the pg, artest along with tracy. Tracy runs the offense while shane or artest d-up nash or baron.

We need a 3rd guy that doesn't let our defensive principles go. People will scream mike miller, but he doesn't defend and is soft as butter. Not to mention his playoff history. I think if tracy was asked to do less offensively, he would be better defensively again. Artest would put the rox over the top.

Not only that but Small ball we can even convince Mutombo to 1 more year and we would not even really need him because of Artest versatility on both ends of the court. Deke would be rested as well as most of the players taking turns nightly to give them even more rest and decrease risk of injuries. Scola/Artest/Landry are all capable of filling in the 4/5 rotation and even Chuck Hayes too. Just think about it this team would strike fear in to everybody else. Come playoff time we could sweep the playoffs.

 

I'm not going to bust ur bubble, but francis is done. I've watched him even when he was on another roster. His bbiq has always been now that his atheleticism is way down, he's just not a good player anymore.

 

I'd rather have Duhon that Williams. But if all those things happened, wow, we would be freaking awesome.

 

Baron Davis went through the same type of injuries exept he wasnt forced to play. In NK Francis was a part of their rotation and was forced to play at 80% he was not the same player. This year he should be ready in a contract season. Baron Davis is the same player he was before his injuries so he can possibly come back to form. Maybe not all that dunking but none of that mattered anyways.

 

I agree. I really liked SF3 when he was here before but his time has passed.

We'll have to differ on the subject of getting Artest - I am not on board with this at all. I really believe that he's actually crazy and could go off at any time. I look at this whole idea of getting "troubled" players this way: The Spurs have won 4 titles without having to gamble on head cases like Artest and it appears to have worked well for them. No, I think DD is on to something with the need to upgrade the PG position because that's the key

 

Artest has been on his best behavior. I even think Wallace was worst than Artest. There has been people worst than him. If i had a source to see how many technical fouls each player got would tell you which player is most likely to go off. What happened in the past really was a over reaction from Big Ben and their home town crowed. Adelman has coached him before and he likes Adelman. He wants to win he is a competitor. He would bring a swagger to this team on the defensive side of things. I like Artest i think the media went over board on his whole situation. But i believe it has made him smarter as he grows. He may say things but to me he is only joking or atleast i would take it as a joke not to seriously. I think he would like it here in Houston.

 

Baron was always a smarter, headier player than francis. Baron's problem was staying healthy and keeping his weight down. Even though davis didn't make asg was a better basketball player than francis. On a atheletic point, he was on par with francis. Now, its not even close, plus francis is 2 yrs older. I've watched and was hoping francis could return to some kind of form, but his low bbiq and diminished atheleticism makes him done.

 

Yeah like vernon maxwell? He went into the stands, but people don't care because he helped the the rox win a ring. Rasheed, same way.

When u have a team like the rox with a limited window, a hole that we shouldn't be talking about because we traded our lotto pick, its not even a big gamble.

He didn't have any problems with adelman. In fact he played some of his best basketball. Say what u want and I do like the penetrating pg idea, but there is a reason why no one talks about rondo anymore. They have 3 really good players and role players on the team with the best record in the league. Not to mention, he's a tough, no-nonsense fiery competitor. Last I checked, there isn't a player on the rox anywhere close to that.

 

Artest is just a kind of guy who likes to compete and play the game. Does anyone remember what happened. The Pacers were winning that game there was no let up in the Pacers and Artest in general that game which led to Wallace over reacting mixed in with Detroits home crowed watching their team being beat which triggered it because they was being beat on there own home floor. I remember it like yesterday which reminds me of the way the Rockets were playing during the streak there was no let up the exact same thing could be said about Artest in that paticular game. Detroit fans have no class. Artest did the right thing to go lay down and then hell broke loose. I wouldnt call Artest a knucklehead on what happened. I would call their fans classless. Its more a slap to his face more than anything. Artest was handled and was suspended for the season. Artest was in a lose-lose situation after what happened in a lose-lose moment. Will he run into a crowed and punch the wrong man again i doubt it. Is he a chemistry killer? Not at all and how can you judge that? every team he has been on has had good teams so i would say he would come in to disrupt chemistry or anything like that.

 

In a way, Im glad Rafer's injured. I really really wanna see brooks play. He really needs some time to shine.

 

We need a low-post guy who can give us 20/10/2 every night.

That would help more than a passing PG right now.

 

I like the fact that Aaron brooks is taking advantage of his time playing. I think we should use him more down the stretch and possibly in the playoffs whenever Rafer is struggling

I hope Rafer does come back healthy and starts for us soon, i still think we are a better team with Rafer
