Why does anything with an Asian person always revolve around food, martial arts or where they're from? Why not create a name based on his merits, and not focus on how "different" or "exotic" he is?
oh holy crap stop being so sensitive. Tim Hardaway went to UTEP. UTEP 2 Step. "Why not create a name based on his merits?" They're just names that stick.. some of the suggested names like "Tornado" weren't about any food or martial arts or where he's from anyway.
LOL. Hahahahaha. All I can say is, Yao is a revolving door, he just keeps spinning! BTW whoever came up with that Yaopacolypse thing, that is sickkkkkk. Yaopacolyspe Now. You know how Cleveland has that HUGE picture of LeBron James in front of their arena? It says "We are all witnesses" or some sh*t. The Toyota Center needs one with T-Mac dunking over Bradley and Yao doing the spin move that says something along the lines of that. OR: "Hey, all you dumbass sports writers, we finally fixed that f*cking problem!". OR: "Hey NBA, now it's your f*cking problem" Heh, JK guys.
dude, that makes no sense at all. He's not from Hong Kong and he doesn't really twist. Might as well call it the Cleveland steamer.
Maybe because it doesn't affect you, that's why you don't think it's important. Fact is, white people have so many positive roles in the media that anything negative is easily dismissed. While Asians have very few positive portrayals in the media and therefore any portrayal is significant. That's why most Asians are stereotyped by food or martial arts. And I wasn't referring to ALL of the names, just the dumb ones with food or martial arts or stereotypical negative Asian movie characters.
