From what I've seen in the preseason, it's Rafer Alston. He's the most vocal in directing both the offense and the defense. There's no rule that your best player has to be the leader. Think Avery Johnson with the Spurs in the 90s.
Why can't people just respond to the discussion!! You are an idiot! Idiot is a word derived from the Greek ἰδιώτης, idiōtēs ("person lacking professional skill," "a private citizen," "individual"), from ἴδιος, idios ("private," "one's own").[1] In Latin the word idiota ("ordinary person, layman") preceded the Late Latin meaning "uneducated or ignorant person."[2] Its modern meaning and form dates back to Middle English around the year 1300, from the Old French idiote ("uneducated or ignorant person"). The related word idiocy dates to 1487 and may have been analogously modeled on the words prophet[3] and prophecy.[4][5] The word has cognates in many other languages.
Well, when you're throwing out language like saying T-Mac's "panties always seem to bunch up when too much heat is applied," or that Yao is "soft as tissue paper," that's not keeping it real. Did you ever see what T-Mac did to the Spurs a few years ago when he scored 13 points in 33 seconds to singlehandedly win the game. Seems like he handled pressure pretty well then. Even if you disagree, there's no need to attack T-Mac's masculinity. And I don't know why you think Yao is soft, when he was heading towards an MVP season before he got injured. By the way, nice attempt to create a straw man by think every Rockets team is a championship team, when no one said anything like that. You may point out flaws with the team, but I don't see why a real fan would be trashing our top players.
I think it was possible for you to make your point without name calling. Does that make you feel better to call me an idiot? Think about it and trying findning some class to make your points. That post was my way of letting those that did not already know that Tmac is the captain/leader of the Rockets.

Yao is not soft. He's just too much of a "thinker". He thinks too much and does too little. Don't overthink things and just play within the flow of the game. He lacks reactive instincts. He thrives within a set but predictable system.
You dumb fool!! I am Asian!!!!! I was born Japan. So i can talk about my culture if i desire. When you assume you make a fool out of yourself!
Great games are a dime a dozen, but championships last forever. T-mac is a great player that bow's in the playoffs. Yao is very talented but has yet to actually take over and win big games.
Last time I checked, Yao is Chinese. And by the way, there's racism amongst Asians also. The Chinese hates the Japanese as the Japanese are not the most liked Asian group. So to this American, you're still a racist idiot regardless if you're "Asian".
So basically, your entire reason for starting this thread was to tell all of us Rockets fans, who obviously don't know better than a self-proclaimed realist who calls everyone naive (it seems the condescending realists are piling up here at CF), that T-Mac and Yao are soft losers who only play well during meaningless games. While I agree that they have underachieved during the playoffs, it doesn't mean they're losers, and it definitely doesn't mean that they lack the fire to win. Just because you don't see Yao screaming all the time doesn't mean he's a passive guy. For God's sake man, read how his opponents all say that he is a relentless attacker in the low post. Doesn't sound like something a passive stiff would be doing. As for T-Mac, didn't he lead the team to an improbable playoff push (with inspired efforts by Juwan Howard and Deke) with Yao down? Maybe it would possible for you to think before you started a thread, maybe then it would be considered as something coherent.
What people fail to realize is that IF we got those last couple of rebounds in Game 7, we WOULDN'T be talking about needing a leader or anything else that's negative being thrown on this board. Is Yao or McGrady any MORE of a leader if we secured those couple of rebounds? Or are they anymore soft because they didn't secured those 2 rebounds at the end? WE WERE THAT CLOSE PEOPLE. Don't lose sight of that.
Steve Is the last person I would want leading this team. Yea, he has heart, but where has that gotten him? NOWHERE, All the teams where he was the leader or primary option never made the playoffs. Except for his last season under JVG, where he had to have his worst year up to that point to make the playoffs.
I started the thread for the same reasons all other fans start threads.....To get others opinions on the topic. So stop trying to constantly attack my ideas. These are not facts, simply my observations of the past few seasons. I look forward to this season, and if in my opinion some of those things that i mentioned are changed, we should go all the way! Always have to attack a statement before you respond to it. I know how Yao and T-mac have played in the recent seasons. Yao has gorwn by leaps and bounds every year. He is the best center in the league. But you and i both know that he has yet to dominate games consistantly. I am not critiqueing him from a level of Corey Blount or Kwame Brown! I am analyzing his game on the level of the greats. Hakeem, Bill Russell, Robert Parish and so many more. T-mac gets the same analyzation. He has done very well in some games and very poorly in others. He has not been consistant on a constant basis. Again, i am comparing to others who have achieved in the league. I look forward to your responce
Attacking your ideas? I was pointing out that Yao is not the passive stiff you portray him to be, T-Mac has been spectacular under pressure many times before, and that the two of them are not losers. Last time I checked, just because one poster thinks his opinions are relatively sound doesn't mean that everyone else has to agree with him. Who the heck is Corey Blount? You say that you're comparing Yao to the all-time greats now, but earlier in the thread you had this to say about Yao: Looks to me like you're saying that Yao is a Kwame Brown type of player: just happy to be in the league. He didn't look too stagnant when he was dropping 30 points on people's heads last year before he got injured. That's pretty good for someone who's glad just to be in the NBA. Wow, what a revelation. T-Mac has good games AND(!) bad games. What a loser. If only he could be like Jordan and never have a bad game ever. Btw, it's ANALYSIS, not analyzation.
this team does lack leadership, and anyone who doesnt think so is blind. our two best players arent vocal, so they lead by example. however, how do you lead by example when you walk up and down the court not caring? (t-mac) or how do you lead when you get blocked by midgets like nate robinson? (yao). its the price we pay for having two non vocal superstars and it may come back to bite us in the butt.
