I think Miller will have a bigger impact than expected. In fact, I think the 2nd unit will run Adelman's offense more than the starting unit. I agree that Melo is a game changer, but you give up depth to get him. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Melo here, but I wouldn't give up on this team if the Rockets do not get Melo
So why not post in the other hundreds of Melo threads? WTF is the point of this thread in the first place?
At this point, i see the importance of keeping Jeffries on the team. He is a very good defensive player and durable. Didn't he also play a little SF?
If giving up means giving up on a shot at the WCF, then I give up without Melo or another major addition.
So your basic argument is that we need Carmelo Anthony. Something that has been repeated 500 billion other times. Tell me, besides your cleverly worded title, why do you feel this topic warranted a new thread?
Read the article, it makes a unique point backed by statistics that haven't been discussed. You're only point is that you are tired of hearing about Carmelo Anthony. Deal with it.
P1S2, please spill the beans? There is no way someone would make another Melo thread unless they absolutely knew something was about to go down.
I'm old school, so I'm rolling the dice by starting another Melo thread. I have no insider information to offer you.
No offense, but this thread is terrible. 1.) This team has as good a chance as anyone at making the WCF. We are very deep and very balanced. Yea, there are some health concerns, but there is also a great shot at the second seed. 2.) Like it or not, AB is our closer. He is the only guy on the squad who can get the ball from out of bounds and get a shot off. He is young, still getting better, and has already hit numerous clutch shots/game winners. Nevermind the fact that he has started alongside Yao for all of 1/2 a season. Brooks is seriously underappreciated on this board. 3.) Not sure what the "42-40 record with him as focus" comment has to do with anything. First off, Ariza made himself the focus of the offense, not Brooks. Second off, last year was an outlier of what this team is building, so it is irrelevant for the most part. Third off, a "closer" is not the same thing as a focus on offense. Do you think Dwight Howard is Orlando's closer? Is Yao our closer? Nope and nope. 4.) We are a very good team with 2 lottery big man in the wings developing, as well as multiple potential lottery picks coming. Couple that with management that has proven to be top notch at scouting/drafting and we have a bright bright future. 5.) Melo is a fine player and Morey will get him if he can without making the team worse in the process. We are in a great position to land a player, but the opportunity has to be there. So far it hasn't been. 6.) Seems like you are just whining to whine. FFS, we havent even seen the team play with all the pieces and we are already crying about what this team needs?
So why make another Melo thread? I mean, if nothing is going down, it's pretty much useless information. It's a given that most of us would like Melo, but your stating the obvious like hey, I wanna have sex with Megan Fox! I'm getting a little paranoid right now!
You make some points - the merit of which are debateable, but thank you for your input. I just disagree, and I will be pissed off unless we make the WCF if we don't make a major move before then. You can't count on Yao's health any more than McGrady's.
