Funny you bring up the Suns regarding the future...I was thinking about something similar a few days ago. Why is it that the Suns always seem to have a trash talking player on their team that puts-down the Rockets? Anyone remember what Charles Barkley used to say about the Rockets in 94-95? Hell, even their coach got into the "act (Westphal)." Hmmm, something about "roaches..." I say the Rockets should NOT reply to any of Marbury's remarks. Let him dig his own grave. A humble elephant never forgets.
Yes it's weird. Marbury seems to always diss Francis and Yao in interviews. But he looks to be friendly with them personally. Same thing happens with him and KG. I guess he's either a "2 faces" person or just an attenton seeking, big mouthing kid. But I agree that we should add Phoenix Suns into our hate list (which included Jazz and Lakers). With Lakers' recent surge, it's us or them for the number 8 spot in the playoffs now!!!
And AZ Republic thinks the same about our Rockets - They list the Rockets as the odd man out. See AZ Republic
Regarding the Suns and Mavs. Here's why I think they are dangerous... Marbury and Marion have the killer instinct. They don't get rattled in pressure situations. They are young and hungry. And they have a lot to prove in the play-offs. The Mavs are the same. Nash and Nowitzski are both killers. They don't fear losing. They will cut your heart out if you let them. Even if they are down by 20 points, they always feel they can come back. See, they "believe it." That's dangerous. The Rockets aren't at this level yet. We don't believe yet. And we surly don't have the killer instinct. The Mavs, Kings, and Suns will be our main competition in the next few years. The Lakers (aging Shaq) and Spurs are our least. And forget about the Jazz after Malone and Stockton retire.
bullsh*t! many 18-year olds are ready for fame and fortune. look at those tennis greats who turned pro when were 15 and 16, such as michael chang, sampras and agassi, they are certainly doing well now. kobe, kg and jermaine o'neil have no problem, the last time i checked all of them skipped college and headed straight to the nba.
I have nothing agains Amare. I hope he turns into a decent player (but not good ). Nothing against Matrix personally either. He has a wierd ass shot, but seems like an okay guy. I like Penny. But Marbury on the other hand has to be one of the top three jackasses in the NBA. I dont think his own mom likes him. Screw him and his sorry ass team.
Amare will become a Marbury-type bad-mouth very soon. (I am pretty sure!) That will give us another reason to hate Sun!
he will be next year after hanging with marbury in the off season. where did marbury grow up? was it corney island?
I fear Suns, Kings and Lakers in the next few years. As long as Shaq is still playing, Lakers will always have to be considered the favorite. Add Kobe to the mix and you have your championship rings right there. I agree with you that Suns will be a challenge for us for the next few years. Even though they don't have a center to match up against Yao, they match up well against us in all other positions. Kings, well, I expect them to dethrone the Lakers this year. They are 9 deep and play team ball like no others. I really don't think Mavs will be a problem for us. We kill them on the inside and I think SF has learned his lessons from our last loss to the Mavs. I admit that Mavs have an explosive offense but they can't stop anyone on defense. As such, they will never win any championship with this run-and-gun team.
Where did you learn to talk like Marbury? Coney Island? I don't like the trend of kids bypassing NCAA for the NBA. They should go to college to develop skills they can't learn in high school. Not just in b-ball either, they have to learn life skills such as keeping a checkbook. Giving an 18 year old millions of dollars is scary. Sure there are success stories like KG, Kobe, T-Mac and Moses. But there are plenty who got messed up. Remember Lloyd Daniel who has to be the greatest high school player I have ever seen. My point is that we ought to do a better job protecting our youth. What is your point other than the foul language?
if you have read my post correctly, you would have gotten my point. 1) as you pointed out, kg, kobe, t-mac and moses have successfully jumping straight to the nba, which means success or failure depends on the person not on the age of the person. 2) what's the difference between college and nba? there isn't any difference. in fact, they are worse off going to college because collges exploit them, milking them like cash cows. you really think they have a checkbook to balance while they are in college? they had money; many of them wouldn't have taken money from boosters. 3) do you think college coaches are more equip to teach than nba coaches to teach these kids how to play bball? who has more resources college or nba? the nba can hire a coach just to teach one player. 4) if you give people $18 mil, they will have a difficulty managing it it doesn't matter if they are 18 or 80. it depends on the individual and the people they hire to manage their money. even if you have a phd, you can still be cheated.
There is only so much hate to go around. I'm already busy hating Quittin, the Jazz and JALEN ROSE, all three of whom we all have ample reason to hate. But to hate a team just because they are doing good and talking trash? Who are you not going to hate? the Clippers? the Cavs? the Warriors? (o wait, I kinda hated the warriors after that Jackson stuff, but it all worked out...) To have as your favourite teams the Rockets and the bottom rung of the NBA is silly. I like the Suns. They are young and exciting, like the Rockets. I would like to see a healthy rivalry develop, like the old days. Obviously, I would like to see them (or the Lakers, Mavs, Blazers, Jazz, Spurs, TWolves, or Kings) not make the playoffs. I want the Rockets to make the playoffs. I want Yao to win rookie of the year, (but would not be crushed if he shared it with 'Mare, the boy got game).
Marbury has passed the corner in terms of "making his team better." Marbury IS better than Francis in that respect. Francis needs to learn this skill and lessen his turnovers before he can surpass Marbury in point-guard completeness. That look on Marbury's face angers me! He's full of himself.
