    Draft pick gems:
    Aaron Brooks
    Carl Landry
    C-bud
    Ish

    Too soon to tell:
    Jermaine Taylor (doesn't get burn)
Patrick Patterson (hasn't seen the court at all)
Llull (don't sleep on this kid)

^All these guys were scouted by DM and his crew. Funny that you bring up Dorsey because he's the only miss they've made so far.

I think you're starting to take DM's drafts for granted because we've always picked low and our roster's too deep for rooks like JT and PP to get some burn (although I blame most of this on RA). Larry Sanders only stopped playing like garbage his 9th game this season. If he was our pick I'm pretty sure he would have been sent to the Dleague too, and people would have been drooling over Patterson instead and saying how we missed the boat on Patterson.

Well to be perfectly honest I was 100% against trading Batum at the time, I liked his scouting report and wasn't impressed at all with Greene

Also just like you I thought Dorsey was much better than he would be...I was excited at the "center of the future" hype that DM had been building. He looked so good in college, who knew he was dumb as bricks and was extremely lazy? He had no indications of either behavior in college.

How can we compare Sanders to Patterson? We haven't even see what Patterson can do!

Agreed with this. I mean, let's suppose we drafted Sanders. Then what? If Patterson doesn't get playing time due to our overcrowded roster, I don't see why Sanders would, and he would be in the D-League too, and then we'd be talking about how we should have got Pat-pat. Not to mention we already have one athletic dude with questionable drive but high potential, and I see no reason why Hill can't become better then Sanders.

Have you guys been watching some of the DLeague stuff?

    Patrick Patterson looks awesome.

Plays fantastic defense. Makes great decisions when he has the ball. Makes all his freethrows, runs the floor.

I think he needs to put on weight and muscle, but I believe he will be a Karl Malone lite type of player.

Add 25-30 lbs on his frame, I think he will put up double-doubles for the Rockets.

I am hoping that we rebuild, to be honest with you. I just don't see a way that we can net a superstar and win with our current roster, I think it needs to be through the draft.

Patrick is a relentless worker, and will be a huge factor for this team sooner rather than later.

Question is how/when will he get a look? I don't trust Adelman to bring him out any time soon, and PP might be packaged for a consolidation type trade at the deadline. Of course my gut tells me when we're gonna look a lot like the Knicks with PP if we trade him now and he gets the PT he deserves on another team.

I first have to know what we have in Patterson, before I say we missed the boat on Larry Sanders.

Who knows maybe Pat becomes a Karl Malone type of player or he can be a complete scrub... we'll just have to wait and see.

Patterson will get his opportunity. It will probably come after Feb 24. But it will come. And the kid can play. By the end of the season, everyone will be thinking Morey is a genius again and will be wanting to trade Scola so Patterson can start.

Because Sanders is shot blocking big, and we have a big center with GLASS FEET....why on earth would we take a high upside shot blocking center when we can count so heavily on Yao Ming?

    Why?

    Why?

    WHY?

Problem is, I don't think Larry Sanders will ever be able to be a legitimate C.

It would be like putting Anthony Randolph at C...

That's what a lot of people thought about Marcus Camby.

I think Sanders will be a Camby-lite when it's all said and done. I will say Sanders is playing big. There are guys that have the height but can't use their size as an advantage. The biggest thing for Sanders will be minutes. Right now the Bucks have some injuries so he's getting more PT.

My only look at Pat from D-League play was Clutch's vid a while back. It was not too flattering for Pat. He looked completely lost and out of place as a basketball player.

I was real excited when the Rockets drafted him and I hope you are right in your assessment of him.

What's with all these "lite" comparisons? What exactly does it mean anyways? Malone-lite? Does it mean he can sorta hit a 17 footer? Camby-lite.... He could block shots but miss games with a fractured pinky?

I'm just amazed that a thread about a potential center is getting this much hype over a 20-ish game span. You're talking about a player that's only getting some real playing time because of injuries. He had one great game with 8 blocks when Bogut's injured. He's also getting time because Drew Gooden's injured. He's playing behind Drew Gooden!

One of the latest pieces written by Rotoworld about him is this:
" Sanders has been hit or miss in his spot starts, though a matchup with the soft interior of the Heat gives him a small boost. That said, don't get crazy, his off nights have been pretty bad."

With that said, he seems a lot like Jordan Hill, with the big question mark being how consistent he could be?

Moreso, PatPat's in his position because of the team he's in. I wouldn't know what Sanders would be like with the Rockets as others would have said. Out of your 15, you'll have:

    Brooks/Lowry/Ish
    Martin/Lee/Taylor
    Battier/Bud
    Scola/Hayes/Jeffries
    Yao/Miller/Hill

That leaves one spot. My guess is Scola/Hayes/Hill/Miller will get playing time with Yao injured. I doubt Sanders would get more than a few minutes a game even with Yao not playing. Be that as it may, we should all sit back and let things play itself out more apparently before we go around criticizing how great or horrible a pick is. But then again, I guess that's part of being a fan; maybe a tad bit annoying one.

I admit, I haven't watched Larry Sanders live.. but looking at his stats, I don't see what everyone is upset about. His numbers are pretty mediocre.
