I'm an older school fan, and loved OT's dedication, but the trade was needed.
Drexler wasn't one to miss many games due to injury. After that trade Drexler
basically carried the team out, with Dream out with anemia. Always remember the bank in Denver. From then on out all the questions "I he had gas left?"-he answered them during that stretch.

Loved OT, and maybe we win the 2nd chip, without trading him, but man I think
that trade was the right move, and got us the 2nd chip.

Memories, but ya I get your point tinman, most aren't familiar with how consistent, and good of a PF he was, other than chuck, we haven't had one
    like OT since

    C'mon now.

While Yao was special, he's fourth in Rockets history.... let alone NBA all time.

It was the right move because we neeeded another scorer to take some pressure off Dream and Clyde provided that. We don't get out of the first round without Clyde.

I've been a fan since the San Diego Rockets in the 60's. Luckily, we still had the Lakers when the Rockets left Cali..... and now we got DH too! gooooooooo Lakers!
    j/k, fk them.

I miss The Summit. All the greatest Rockets memories were made there.

I vaguely remember this fight but damn Oakley and Barkley were pretty vicious. What's to miss?

Hell yeah we miss Yao, not just the basketball player but more so the humble, gentle, kind, funny and good spirited person who at least made me feel good about the Rockets organisation and the NBA. He was the one guy who could make me forget about the selfish nature of 99% of the players and if he had been here, I think most fans wouldn't have been worried about the whole Lebron and even the Dwight saga. It would just make us Rockets fans, at least me, feel more appreciative of having Yao as the foundational player.

I'm glad we have Lin now because in a strange way because he's part Chinese, but also because of the personal relationship they have, it feels as if Yao is closer to us. We will probably hear more of him because of his connection with Lin as a person but also because of the Chinese fans and businesses that are going to be supportive of the Rockets. Also Lin is smart and humble which is a good thing, especially in today's NBA where the ego and salaries are at an all-time high. I rather lose with high character guys like Lin & Lamb than win with players like Bynum, Dwight or Melo. The one foundational player who hasn't got caught up in the game is Durant and he's the kind of All-Star I can only hope Lin, Lamb, Parsons, Jones or White can become.

4th?? I would say 3rd. Hayes played most of his career and his gained most of his accolades elsewhere. Yao is the 3rd best center in Rockets history.

Considering that Moses, Olajuwon and Hayes were top 50 players, even 4th is quite an accomplishment.

Blame Kobe , he started it all and all the youngsters kinda copycat his attitude, and thought it was cool.

Actually I was a 99er...things happen. Emails get lost, screen names and passwords forgotten....LOL if you think I'm here bc of Lin....I lurked, and posted on this site for many a years...when clutchfans wasn't clutchfans....sorry buddy
Judging on "when you think I got here" makes you ignorant...oh and thanks tinman for the rep.

Spiegal lol ya I'm a Lin only fan hahaha, right now I don't know what the Rockets are doing, I just hope a rookie turns out to be at least a "Rudy gay/or Danny granger" type of player.

Sampson better than Yao? What are you nuts? I wouldn't even count Hayes considering he was washed up by the time he joined the Rockets.

he's led the Rockets farther than Yao. Yao had the better career.
    As far as talent?

Ralph Sampson no question. That guy can run a fast break and play point guard. He's truly the sad case of what injury destroyed a career.

Not Tmac , Not Yao, but Ralph.

We defeated a legendary Laker team with him . We made the NBA FINALS.
Yao has never faced a team with legends like Magic and Kareem.

    Yao can't do this:
