Draft Favors please! We desperately need a big. Next season will be another disappointment if Yao goes down again.

i'm sure OJ Mayo & Mike Conley Jr is a more worse backcourt than what we have. Derozan & Jack sure are. Nelson & Carter aren't great on the defensive end either. If you look at it, a lot of team's backcourt players aren't good defensively, but nowadays defense isn't made much of a factor due to the calls that always sway toward the offensive players, thank the refs for that.

Disagree. Spurs' backcourt let Brooks and Martin score 60 points. Does that mean they have the worst defensive backcourt in the league?

Rafer and McGrady were a defensive juggernaut though.

Especially the McGrady of the last few years where he put in a solid effort once every 10 defensive possessions.

Yao was apparently the biggest reason for our success based on the fact that Battier, Ariza, Hayes and Lowry haven't been able to prevent us from sucking defensively, even before Martin got here.

Brooks sucks but he is far from solely responsible for this level of meltdown.

I'm more worried about the frontcourt defense, particularly if Yao isn't able to come back strong.

I dunno, but can't be too far behind the Jazz backcourt. They gave up 51 to our guards, and our guards didn't play the 4th quarter.

This game was so glaring only because we don't have our best defensive players. AB is our best 3-point shooter; he's not going anywhere, not even to the bench.

What RA needs to do is vary the match-ups to mask the weaknesses of AB and Martin. Against Utah, I thought he would go more with Temple vs. Williams. (Temple had a cool steal from Williams just as the Utah announcer was saying Williams is going for a triple double tonight.)

Where do you find points per possession of specific games and specific player combinations?

What 2 Guard had torched us since Martin has been here? If you're actually basing it on what Martin has done since he's been here, then I'm not seeing a huge problem.

    Indiana
    --------
    Martin 31 Minutes

    Brandon Rush 4-6 10pts
    Luther Head 1-6 3pts
    Dahntay Jones 1-4 3pts

    New Orleans
    -----------
    Martin 28 Minutes

    Morris Peterson 5-9 15pts
    Marcus Thornton 5-13 12pts

    Orlando
    --------
    Martin 41 Minutes

    Vince Carter 6-9 16pts
    JJ Reddick 3-12 6pts

    San Antonio Spurs
    -------------------
    Martin 45 Minutes

    Keith Bogans 0-3 0pts
    Roger Mason 4-13 12pts
    Manu Ginobli 1-8 8pts
    Malik Hairston 4-6 8pts

    Utah
    -------
    Martin 34 Minutes

    Wes Matthews 7-9 18pts
    Kyle Korver 3-6 8pt

Just for comparison sake, here's the last 5 games for LeBron James who was 1st team all-NBA defensive team last year:

    Toronto
    -------

    James 44 Minutes

    DeMar DeRozan 1-6 4pts
    Sonny Weems 5-7 11pts

    Boston
    ------
    James 36 Minutes

    Ray Allen 7-13 21pts
    Tony Allen 3-8 8pts

    Hornets
    -------
    James 44 Minutes

    Morris Peterson 1-5 2pts
    Marcus Thornton 15-22 37pts

    Orlando
    --------
    James 39 Minutes

    Vince Carter 4-9 11pts
    JJ Redick 3-5 9pts

    Charlotte
    ---------

    James 36 Minutes

    Stephen Jackson 9-17 29pts
    Gerald Henderson 0-1 1pt

yep all the mindless AB fanboys need to understand that he needs to come off the bench for instant O that all he has D-will and the other top PG's simply embarasses him on the regular, remember wat D-rose did to him up there in that Chicago game last year when we were up 16 pts in the 4th? AB scoring is sexy on the screen but if we wana have a realistic shot at winning we MUST have Lowry in the starting lineup, or another big PG brought in

i know most rox fans dont kno much else about the league outside about the rox and bi name players but the game prior to last nite sac rookie PG tyreke evans SHUT HIM DOWN D-will struggles against big PG's his size and he def dont embarass them the way he constantly soes AB

too much is made that 'lowry will be exposed as a shooter' and blah blah blah but in reality its a stupid argument becuz how can he be exposed when Kevin Martin is FLYING around the court scoring mercilessly?

has lowry ever been 'exposed' whenever he and AB played in the backcourt together? HELL NO becuz he simply kicks to AB and let him do all the scoring, the same thing kyle will do if he and kevin played together except kevin wont turn the ball in the paint and fall or lose the ball kevin will get to the FT line.. i promise u fans know nothing about the game

Hayes and shane are elite nba defenders. However the TEAM will not be elite defensively until they get a shotblocker or someone to protect the rim. The team can only do so much right now with their height disadvantage. The backcourt defense certainly is not good, but they look even worse when they cannot funnel the opponent into yao
