The Lakers were firmly in control at that point. It could have been a tie ball game and you could feel the Lakers in control. It wasn't the Rockets night but at least Ron brought something to light that was being overlooked.
Sometimes you have lose the battle to win the war. If Ron doesn't get the lower bowl guys off their asses for game 3, nothing will.
But it was definitely on him to put himself in a situation that could lead to an ejection. This is the fourth quarter of a very physical playoff game. The risk of refs overreacting is just too high, especially given Ron's reputation (unfair, i know). I agree with the argument that Ron's action has the benefit of drawing referee's attention to Kobe's cheap shots. But the cost is a little too high. Unlike some of the other posters, I believe Rockets still had a chance of winning this game when Ron got tossed. Let us just hope that the benefit every poster is talking about will materialize for the rest of the series.
You would have to show me a video of the whole sequence to convince me of your version of events. In any rate, I don't think an ejection is warranted. And I'm with Ron this time. If Yao has some Ron in him to balance out, he prob wouldn't be called many of senseless fouls.
Rockets fans are very fickle. Tracy gets injured and he goes from hero to villain. Yao is out for the season and the popular opinion on him radically changes. When it was thought that he would be ready for the start of the season, people who didn't think he was worth a max contract (for health reasons) when it was time to negotiate a deal were heavily criticized. Now, people want him gone or want to seriously lowball him. What a difference a couple of months makes. So naturally, people loved Artest when he was here but hate him now that he's gone.
i bet almost all the people who posted in this thread riding his jock when we won the first game vs Lakers, can be found in the more recent threads claiming they always hated him and that he always sucked on the rockets. We got out of the first round with Ron, for the first time in a while......appreciate what he helped us do, i know i do.
He's not a Rocket anymore. Why would you cheer for him? Of course everyone on rooted for him when he had on Rockets uniform. Now he doesn't, whether we like it or not. I'm not cheering for the guy anymore
I love the guy and will still love him. I just wish he didn't go to the team that I hate the most, but **** happens.
I really loved having Artest being part of a team with "CHAMPIONSHIP" aspirations but honestly for the money he got I'd take Ariza. The age thing is one reason but if he was the "man" I think he would just shoot us out of alot of games. His D has gone down a bit but still top notch its more about the Rox then Artest right now. I hate to use the old line you tell a G/F when you break up with her but its true in this case. Its not you baby, Its me!
The only thing I dislike about Artest is that he went to L.A. to somewhat bangwagon his way to a championship. He will be a part in them winning a championship of course, but it bothers me when players want to go somewhere where they already have an embarrassment of riches and win a championship there. It's L.A. no less and that makes it all the worse.
a little extreme dude. he was a free agent this year, everybody knew that. it's not he's the highest paid player on our team and telling sports illustrated he never played with [insert players with success].
