putting up numbers on a bad team doesnt necessarily mean developing. If he were actually developing, he would actually be playing now and not teamless.
He is a free agent, let's see if he signs here or elsewhere. At the end of the day, he may blow his career. I would like the Rockets to look at him, as a low risk player.....IF....he is drug free. DD
I have no problem with the Rockets signing G. Green as long as there is a roster space. As of now, there is no room for him.
Sure there is...... Players on roster, that might be traded, bought out, not resigned, or cut. Harris Woods Francis Head Hayes Novak Deke Now, I am not saying they are all going to be gone, but a few of them are now redundant..... DD
His best chance is to sign with a veteran team if he goes to another suck factory like Memphis, or one of the other teams with cap room his career is over. Not everyone is mature at 22, and no one doubts his talent, so he needs to be in an organiztion that is going to try to force him to be disciplined and professional. I agree that he can do that here, we have a very low knucklehead factor here.
Regarding the pot thing, if there is not any other proof than "He said, She said" allogations, then it should not be said at all!! We are talking about a young man's livelyhood. I like the young man's game and I do think he would be an asset to us but I don't think we are going to re - sign him. According to T-Mac, he wants a season veteran behind him and Shane who can shoot. And DM is listening to T-Mac, trust me!!
If DM built the team based upon Tmac's thoughts, that would be a horrible job.... Listen to the players, take in their input then do whatever is right for the team regardless of what a player thinks is right. DD
I'm doubting his talent. I watched him play in boston and he was terrible. What talents do you speak of? He's a bad ballhandler, a horrible defender, and not a good passer. Don't tell me he was on a horrible team, scrubs like Tony Allen and Scalabrine were better defenders than him. Even his outside shot, which you seem to admire, is streaky. He'll have one game where everything goes in, followed by a bunch of terrible ones ala Tyrus Thomas. If he doesn't have a wide open shot or open dunk it's not going in. He's just a bad player. Can you honestly say what he can do well? At least Vspan could push the ball, defend adequately, and execute the pick and roll. He's known for that. Green is known for.....?
Any possibility of putting Sura's mind in Green's body? Why has this technology not be perfected yet? I say give Green a shot if it means letting Novak go.
Why are people so in love with Gerald (nothing wrong intended, i really want to know) ? We better pass on him since he had many problems in such a short history in the NBA. If he's willing, take a look at him in the Summer league perhaps but nothing more imo. We already have a full roster and need to fill every position the best way possible. Gerald, is not the best back-up SG we can find so I'll pass.
I doubt DM is listening to T-Mac at all, because sometimes T-mac is clueless about new player acquisitions, and he's always been excited about every player. I mean, what happen to "I'm gonna make Stro-Show an all-star?"
Rockets need a backup SG/SF badly. Landry will tie up most if not all of the MLE (hopefully his knees stay healthy). Even a lower tier but promising swingman like Kelenna azubuike is probably out of the Rockets salary range. Rockets will need to look at vet min players like the Brent Barry or min salary players like Gerald Green to fill needs.
Green is known for his athleticism and scoring ability. That is why he was a lottery pick. A few years in, people are starting to question his potential because of some of the points you mentioned above as well as his lack of basketball IQ and good work ethic. He still isn't a lost cause but is approaching that point rapidly.
I wouldn't mind signing GG. If the reports are true about him working out, he could get a shot with the summer league team. He's only 22 and not finished developing. Team could use a big guard to back up TMac. He has athleticism and shot well from three for his career. I think he could be an improvement over Head.
Azubuike is a SG not a swingman. The Warriors played more small ball than any other team in the league so many players were playing outside their traditional roles. He's had his moments in GS but he still lacks the outside shooting this team needs. He is athletic and a good defender but I think the Rockets really need another good shooter to back up McGrady/Battier.
You mean the same guy that quit on us after one year? Turnover boy? That cry baby isn't even in the same class as Gerald Green.
Right now I would take all those players over Gerald Green with the exception of Woods. With the draft of Donte Greene and if our roster stands as it is right now, I really don't see the need for Gerald Green, and much less willing to spend a roster space on him. Now if he have really matured mentally, and shown that he had improved on his work ethnic since we cut him I'll be willing to invite him to summer camp to fight for one of those spots.
