I hesitate to spoil your day, but there are a great many ignorant people on this site, which is fine, but many of them are also incurious or obstinate, which is not. The stats could not be clearer - KPJ is far better than Green at this point, primarily because he knows how to play defense.

That isn’t a slam on Green or an endorsement of KPJ as an all star PG. Neither are good at their jobs yet, but both are extremely early in their career. But the +\- supports any other stats you care to cite - it’s all consistent. Yet you have idiots on here saying Green is a good defender or KPJ should be cut. Losing breeds anger which breeds scapegoating.

Some people’s expectations are just too high given where we are in the cycle.

don’t even do your bank account like that

Rockets will need a miracle to win 3 straight quarters, let alone games…

This is true. The only time this year the Rockets outscored the opponent 3 straight quarters was against OKC. That was also the last time Houston outscored an opponent in at least 3 quarters, consecutive or non-consecutive.

KPJ will never be an elite starting level PG under Silas. He'd do a lot better coming off the bench and getting the green light to score.

Our coach is too lax and doesn't run any offensive systems. IMO, young players need firm structure and a hard headed coach like Carlisle or JVG who hold them responsible. KPJ can make 3 TOs in a row and Silas will keep him in the game so he keeps doing it every game.

We are eventually going to have to pick between KPJ and Green like the Warriors did between Ellis and Curry. These two cannot coexist on a winning team.

His stats are pretty awful. FG%, FT%, TO, and obviously our record with him as primary ballhandler. I know he is young and all, but it's not working.

Both Green and KPJ stats are awful - BUT Green only has 11 NBA games, KPJ has 87. Difficult to judge a player with just 11 career games.

The sample size is more than a bit too small to make a comparison.

It is kind of unclear as well...
Ellis and Curry are 6'2 combo guards who don't play any defence. They needed a larger backcourt mate for Curry, but also a half court initiator in Iguodala and Draymond.
Curry got the pieces he needed and showed an ability to take and make important shots and so thrived and drove a winning culture.

It isn't clear that either of KPjr or Green are even capable of being part of a winning culture? Both have serious flaws and question marks that need to be addressed. But both are young and have time. And both have through the roof talent.
I'm giving them another 50 games to see how it goes before making any assessment. The road to Banchero is filled with "development losses" that are worth taking.

The stats dont favor KPJ when you add context to it. Blindly looking at stats does nothing. Also why is it KPJ vs Green?

Judging by most rookies he's doing great. I dont get how people dont understand that. I think talking about Green in this post is just KPJ fans deflecting from a third year guy looking like ****.

So much subtext. The subtle struggle with the awareness of an inconvenient truth.

The good news is he is apparently, slowly and inwardly, accepting the fact he is not a true point guard.
That'll make it easier for the inevitable adjustments to come.

A lot of this...don't think we have the coach now that leads this team when it is a winner but that really doesn't matter now like the Astros. Hopefully the Wall love on this site can finally stop. I don't see the big favor a failed star stealing paychecks is doing anybody. I see a lot of knee jerk in these threads but I also see a lot of realization. 20 win teams are GOD AWFUL UGLY. Starting over is a CATASTROPHE. We have to quit pretending like everything is alright. It's not. That's why we suck. Friction, bad attitudes, bad play, ALL OF IT, goes with this. It doesn't mean drop 2nd year players that are still almost like a rookie. When does that ever makes sense. Scoot, Jalen, all of them have DEEP MAJOR FLAWS. If they didn't we would be competing for a playoff spot right now. Their bodies are not fully developed, their game, their shot, their D, their passing, their fundamentals...keep on going. The fit doesn't look right because they aren't right. We take the gigantic leap from this player has promise to why isn't he in all-star form. That doesn't happen. When teams win 20 games like this its not because their 2 stars are out with injury. The play on the floor PAINFULLY explains the record. If people want to win 20 more games this season use up the next 4 years of cap to trade for washed up talent and get on the treadmill. If you want to build a winner you have to develop talent and find other talent. You have to churn the roster multiple times. This process is ugly and uncomfortable. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. MJ, Harden ain't walking through the door.

KPJ is a third year vet and Green is a 12 game rookie. Green has had more great games that KPJ at this point and has suprisingly shown more potential in just 12 games. KPJ has been in the league for 3 years I would be shocked if the stats didnt favor him given that fact that he has the ball and gets to pick his own spots.
