My guess is Rocket's plan is to develop Badiane to become a solid backup center and I think with proper training in NBDL, Badiane can take Deke's place.
At the bare minimum the front court guys should get 61 pts. 28 reb. and 5.5 blocks a game. Yao 18 pt / 9 reb / 2 blks / 2 asst Swift 10 pt/ 6 reb /1.5 blks / 1 asst McGrady 24 pt / 5 reb /0.5 blks / 5 asst Mutumbo 4 pt / 4 reb /1 blks / 0.5 asst Howard 5 pt / 4 reb /0.5 blks / 0.5 asst ____________________________ My Speculation: Stoudomire - 13 pts / 3 reb / 0.3bls / 5 asst Barry - 6 pts / 2 reb / 0.2blk / 1.5 asst Staring SG - 8 pts / 3 reb / 0.2blk / 3 asst Backup PG - 5 pts / 2 reb / 0.1blk / 2 Backup SF - 3 pts / 1 reb / 0.2blk / .5 asst And that group should be able to provide excellent defense. The shooting guards may need an upgrade. And that is where the focus is on Stoudomire. He gets you 13 points a game easily. Plus he would play in the flow of the game with both McGrady and Yao. If we assume the Rockets need to average about 95 to 97 points a game with their defense, the scoring is close to there. 6 players get you 74 points. Then your starting SG should be getting you 8 points a game. That puts the Rockets to 82 points a game. And Barry would be getting about 6 points a game. That puts you up to 88 points a game. And the backup PG should get you about 5 points a game. That puts the Rockets to about 93 points a game. And the SF should get you about 4 points per game. So the Rockets should be averaging 97 points real easily this up coming season. With the defense the Rockets are going to showcase, and the 97 points per contest, the outcome will likely be a top 3 Western Conference finish, record wise. San Antonio and Houston are going to battle it out. With San Antonio's track record, they hold the edge. Houston should be at worst 2nd in our division behind San Antonio and ahead of Dallas.
On previous post, meant to say that Stoudomire should provide the oppense on the point guard. I erroneoulsy wrote Shooting guard, my bad!!
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa....hmm I don't think that's possible. Peter Griffin

mike james for jacque vaughn: we're getting ripped off and we wouldn't do it. mike james for josh smith: ATL is getting ripped off and they wouldn't do it.
First sign Mutumbo, Barry and Stoudomire. Of course that would then leave us with 2 Cs (Ming, Deke), 4 PFs (Howard, Swift, Spoon, Baker), 2 SFs (TMac, Barry), 3 SGs (Wesley, Sura, Head) and 4 PGs (Stoudomire, James, Moochie, Ward) for a total of 15 players. Try to trade Baker, Moochie, Spoon, Wesley (in that order) for a sg/sf - but if that dream were to happen I'm sure we'd take on some extra overweight baggage or a huge Jalen Rose type contract. I can't see Rose, even with his contract, traded for any or all of those players. Nobody wants Baker, Moochie or Spoon and Wesley plays SG so why would someone trade us a better SG. So we probably just end up cutting Baker and Moochie instead and signing Baxter and Glover to round out the roster. Starters Ming, Swift, TMac, Sura, Stoudomire Bench Deke, Howard, Barry, Wesley, James The rest are limited time players or pine riders.
We'd probably have to take on Lafrentz or Blount's contract too. I'd do it, but it's not my money. And a deal like this wouldn't happen until we approach the trade deadline. But a deal of this caliber WILL be available once we get into the season and some teams start folding. In the past couple of years, big money guys like Rasheed, Shareef, Marbury, B. Davis, and Vince Carter have been dealt for essentially expiring contracts. Something big could come our way if CD sits tight.
The Hawks lineup could potentially be something like this: 1.Ivey 6.Akyol 11. 2.Childress 7.Diaw 12.Stoudamire 3.Johnson 8.Smith 13. 4.Williams 9.Harrington 14. 5.Collier 10. 15. They look like they're desperate enough for a good PG.
Well if they want Moochie(I think that's all we can offer as PG) we could take Diaw off their hands. He's a good swingman that plays solid D, runs the court well, and can play Point forward. The only knock on him is that he's not all that good as a scorer.(much like Yao, he's not selfish enough and passes up on shots) ALA
