Good point. In any case, the Rockets have had a huge number of guys passing through via some sort of transaction, often simply as salary fillers. It's simply a matter of probability that a few of them are gonna turn out to be useful NBA players. Another guys that comes to mind is DeMarre Carroll, who was with the Rockets briefly before getting some playing time in (I think) Utah and is now a starter for Atlanta. Stuff like this happens.
the guy was a great talent before blowing up both his knees.. credit to him, steve kerr and their system for the way he's flourished and continue to prolong his career... glad he's doing well but wish it wasn't against our Rockets!!
Kerr deserves no credit in this regard. Livingston worked on his own rehab and first made it big with Brooklyn.
Here's the thread about cutting Livingston: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=228022&highlight=livingston Hard to tell from my post if I supported waiving him or just wanted to waive him over Machado, but whatever. (And sorry to ATW. Don't know why I said you were nuts without even giving a reason! Bad form.)
If only people could understand this, instead of making every one of them into an indictment against the organization.
The Rockets waived G Shaun Livingston today to get their roster to 15. The Rockets decided to go with Scott Machado and Toney Douglas as backup point guards behind Jeremy Lin. By cutting Livingston, the Rockets saved $2.5 million in salary cap space. They have $7.5 million under the cap. The Livingston move was the final cut for the Rockets who on Sunday decided to cut four other players with guaranteed contracts: Lazar Hayward, Gary Forbes, Jon Brockman and JaJuan Johnson. Hayward had just been acquired from Oklahoma City in the trade for James Harden. The roster: Centers (3): Cole Aldrich, Omer Asik, Greg Smith Guards (6): Daequan Cook, Carlos Delfino, Toney Douglas, James Harden, Jeremy Lin, Scott Machado Forwards (6): Terrence Jones, Marcus Morris, Dontas Motiejunas, Chandler Parsons, Patrick Patterson, Royce White Rockets waive Shaun Livingston to get roster to 15 This pretty much explains the whole thing.
Yeah I remember being upset that we let him go. I talked about it a lot, and remember showing my son the play where he got injured. Thought he would really help us. For those that are calling him a scrub has to be joking. Anyone that has watched him these past two years would know that he is just as solid as our bench players. I know one thing it would be great to see him running the break with Brewer.
Nope, that was meant for the people saying he is a scrub. I know things would or wouldn't have happened and some players would not be here....
Livingston was still learning how to play again. He was only like a 18 months post surgery for his broken knee or leg that bent the wrong direction.
