That would have been nice yes, but we already know that it wouldn't have been those 3 at the end. Yao's injury would have killed us and we would have been doomed to live with VC for the next 2 years.

Now we just live with Tracy for the next month!

First of all you nub, read my moniker, I am in no way a giant tmac fan.

Second of all the fact that you think that BC would of made us championship players speaks volumes for your basketball knowledge, which id rank at very little to absolutely none. Take 2 seconds and look what VC has done to a real championship contender like Orlando.

Let not even mention the fact that he plays no D, and would of drained houston dry for years to come all while his offensive game has started to crumble as he perched out at the three point line all day.

    You aren't even close.

You and me both my friend. People were jizzing over the prospect last year, but I absolutely hated the idea because Carter is pretty much a over the hill former superstar. He has some good qualities but adding him to the team with Artest would mean, we'd probably have chemistry issues and his injury situation isn't that great either.

    your moniker does describe something...Ha(c)k....

you may be right about Carter in Orlando today.

You have no idea what he would have been like here with a strong push in the playoffs.

This post is so full of fail.

Get a grip, guy. We all know you're a TOF fan who pulled the "If Tracy's leaving then I am too" bit but decided to come back with a new name.

I don't think it's so much that he deprived us of Vince Carter. I'd venture to say the vast majority of folks on here are thrilled that VC didn't end up in a Rockets jersey.

It's more the principle of the matter that's got folks pissed. It didn't matter to McGrady WHO we were trading him for, just that we were trading him. Can you imagine if we had a deal in place for (hypothetically speaking, of course) Chris Bosh or some other legit All-Star talent? This board would be the first place HPD would check out when McGrady's body was discovered.

Consider this the first and last time McGrady's self-centered, prima donna douchebaggery has worked to the Rockets' advantage. But it certainly doesn't mean he's deserving of our thanks.

I think to me. . it comes down to R.A.!
I think he would have and could have gotten more out of VC
    than the current Orlando coach

I honestly believe that if we had gotten past the Lakers, there is a good chance we win the championship last year.

Vince Carter, no matter how long his contract would have handicapped us for, would have been useful to us in that series. No matter how unlikely the odds, you go for a championship when given even just a glimmer of a hope. And Tracy Mcgrady took that away from us.

    Question:

Would it have mattered as I'm sure McGrady would have failed any physical therefore making the trade fall through anyway? Or would have the Nets accepted the trade regardless of the outcome of a physical?

Thought I should add before the hate-crew decided to pick my post apart:
I don't condone what he did. I'm just saying if it didn't matter, the whining on any trades being nixed by McGrady would at least be unfounded.

This has been brought up a few times and makes me wonder too. Every doctor that looked at him (except the one that finally agreed to operate) said his knee was fine. The man also claimed to be pain free just a few days before he shut it down for the season. I have no idea what goes on in NBA physicals so I guess he could fail a physical by saying "my knee hurts today" even if all the tests said the knee was fine?

    Hindsight is 20/20.

Are you telling me that last years squad (McGrady wasn't even there in the 2nd half) wouldn't have benefitted with Carter as their starting 2?

And if its possible for you, ignore this years Carter for 2 seconds

the Net were in full tank mode. They would have traded just to buy him to get ready for LeBron.

Yeah I don't know. I can only suppose the Nets knew what they were getting as they surely knew he was in and out of the lineup.

I tend to feel the same. This team was close last season and considering how we played Denver and Orlando during the regular season and how LA rolled right through them after barely getting past us it makes you think we were the second best team in the playoffs last season. If Yao manages to avoid the injury then I'm certain we go all the way. If he goes down, I still think the Rockets (with Carter) beat Denver and have a decent shot at beating Orlando.
