Shut up you haters. T-mac will be back this season, and who knows? We won 10 straight games (the last 10 of the 22-straight) two seasons ago with pretty much the same team minus Rafer. And then, next season, Yao will back. So wtf is the problem? What is one season? And it's not like this season is already at a loss. Hasn't even started yet. Maybe after a couple of games you guys can rant like this but wtf?

We're fans! We're supposed to believe in this team! Let's go Rockets!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Carl Herrera again.

Which is really funny considering how Kirk Snyder ended up.

The only dissapointed folks should be the ones that thought wevwere getting a budding star. If you had the right expectations for Ariza (solid roleplayer that's above average on defense) then you shouldn't be suprised to see him struggle offensively when we have no #1 option. It won't be that way forever.

Think of it this way. If he has a huge breakout performance in the pre-season, then management would probably end up signing him to some ridiculous long term contract based on a pre-season performance (cough...Kelvin Cato after he blocked ~10 shots in a pre-season game) that he may never match the feats of again. lol.

So, stink it up, man. Stink that shiyat up. Make it smell.

I'm glad I missed this game...based on what I'm reading about it. I'm not worried. I'm sure there will be many more games like this to come. ;)

Ariza is younger and cheaper version of Battier with more offensive potential.
So either way it was a good signing.
If Ariza shows he can excel on both offense and defense that would be GREAT for us, but if not he would just be a younger and cheaper replacement for Battier.

What would the GARM be without knee-jerk reactions?

Yes, Ariza has looked hapless out there, out of sync, but he's on a whole new team, whole new system, coaches. And this is probably (fingers crossed, praying to God, sacrificing live chickens to the orixas) not even the lineup he's going to be playing with when all is said and done this year.

You'll have McGrady returning in about 5 weeks, and/or being traded (in which case Trevor can say goodbye to his new neighbor, unless Tracy keeps the casa).

We're gonna suck anyway until moves are made or McGrady returns to form, and Ariza is a 3rd-option player for offense, making MLE money. What's the BFD?

    i agree.

but i've also come to terms that, aside from a handful of people on this board, no one really knows what they're talking about.

I think the only reason why people are making a big fuss over this was because we way overrated him in the first place, we were praising as if he was the next TMAC, but realisticly, that wasn't going to happen with a MLE signing. For the MLE for 5 years, where we have him signed through most of his prime years it is a deal where it will definietly pay off sooner or later no matter how well he plays on the court, there are plently of players in the NBA that will get paid alot more then ariza that are plenty worst. I think Ariza was a great addition to this team, but just don't expect him to be the next Superstar.

What I expected out of Ariza when we got him was spot up shooting, athletic backdoor cuts, and being a big factor in transition. When the regular season starts up, I think that's what his role will be relegated to for the most part.

All this ball-handling he's doing right now is just experimentation to see what he's capable of.

you know any other year this preseason would be meaningless, but this year its different. Everybody you see out their on the court is gonna have to step up their game for us this season(until our superstars return). Minus a couple of ppl who wont make the team, everyone is gonna be a factor.
On Ariza, no he isnt worthless, i think he is better than resigning Artest again. I never really liked Artest, i thought he kinda stopped the flow of the offense sometimes, and could just live off the three on some nights whether they went in or not. I think Ariza will fit in better. Right now he is trying to do too much, mabye trying to see if he can take advantage of being "the guy" for right now until t-mac returns. He is not that guy, but man he can a heck of a role player around yao ming and tracy mcgrady.

Guys and gals, calm down. It is the preseason and we should all understand that this is not yet the time to judge the performance of a new major acquisition. Let us see how he fits in with the rest of the major pieces then we can conclude whether he is a bust or not.

The best lesson we can draw from all this is that we should not annoint Morey as a "genius" yet until he has really proven himself over time. I would venture to state, at this point, that his record is hit and miss, so far. Let us wait and enjoy the long season. We have plenty of time to evaluate the good and bad. It will be a very interesting year in the Clutchfans BBS and I am looking forward to it.

and apparently the world isn't flat. I'm pretty sure everyone knows this is a transitional season as we await Yao's return, sort the TMAC situation out, and sign '10 free agent ..Here's to a 45 loss season. Hopefully '10 draft has some keepers...
