You forgot to mention TMac was leading a team to playoff in east, with 8th record. And he didn't have bad back at the time. Without Yao all season, this team wouldn't make playoff even if TMac were healthy all season long.
Honestly I can see a poster like this thinks he is smart, above the rest. The chances are he is not as smart as an average guy. When you see things different than most people do, either you are a genius or you are a fool, most likely the latter.
If you have renamed this thread to be We can win it FOR Yao Ming, then maybe it made better sense. You said oooooooh since TMAC comes back, the Rockets won 3 out of 4 games. This team is much better when it is with TMAC, and without Yao Ming, the impact is small, as Mutombo picked up the slacks in defense. That is TOTAL RUBBISH, as sensible posters/readers pointed out the past 3 wins are over those bottom teams, and if we can't win over the scrub teams, then maybe we should just forget about the season. Yeah TMAC helps......but if you read in the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets.com, everyone in the Rockets from top to down is bemoaning the loss of Yao Ming, cos everyone know he has taken over Tracy McGrady as the Franchise player, the nuclear of the Rockets, the anchor in both offense and defense. The 2 together can make BIG things happen.......but surely not one without the others. What this team needs now is for everyone to step up, including Juwan Howard and Mutombo, play with passion and energy, give their best and all and win as many games as possible to keep this team afloat above the 0.5 win/loss ratio such that when Yao Ming returns, the team would still be in reach of the playoff. YES, the Rockets should continue to win FOR Yao Ming !!
wins agains... atl, nj, and memphis, shouldn't warrent this thread... yao had the west coast trip while t-mac was out...
This thread is stupid. Yao and co beat the Spurs. Probably a greater accomplishment than racking up wins against crap teams. Anyway, both TMac and Yao need each other. I just hope Yao will be the same player when he gets back.
I do not think that we can make a definite decision on who we would win more with, it is all about matchups, we might win with only TMAC against New Jersey, but not San Antonio, and we might win with only YAO against the Clippers and not the Warriors. IT IS ALL ABOUT MATCHUPS
what a freaking idiotic thread...this seems like someting from the offseason when we had nothign else to talk about....they both need each other....end of discusion..end of thread..... Are they still thinkging Yao will be back in early Feb?....its still 6weeks not 8 weeks right...I read some reports that said minimubm 6 weeks..and last week I ready Richard Justice's column (who is an idiot in my opinino) where he said it was 8 weeks (which doesn't mean much because he ususally just makes up stuff anyways)..... what did you guys here..anything different?
talk about touchy. everyone is saying "oooh we've won 3 out of 4" because it is "oooh"; winning without yao is tough, hence the props tmac is getting for winning games for the rockets. tmac scoring 30 points twice in just a few games after his return from injury is just amazing. tmac has had more experience carrying a team, so its only natural that he be more comfortable with the burden. dont say that yao is changed because he says he knows what to do and hes ready and all that. having a mindset is very different from having experience. yao still has to get used to carrying a team without another superstar, and thats not a very easy thing to do. tmac does not just help, he's the primary playmaker. he makes the rockets go, creates so many opportunities, and is clearly the go-to guy in the clutch. to me, that's more than just "help". for sure, we're going to lose a lot of games without yao, because he's the main man, the sure shot. but to say that tmac is just "help", and to cut the team down for its achievements the past few days, is ignorant and stupid. here's to hoping for a decent record by the time yao returns, comfortably above .500.
just want to point out that the whole team started to gel around mid dec 2 or 3 games before yao got inguried, they showed they could even beat spurs at their home without yao or tmac! howard/battier/head were major parts of it. only if alston could be consistent.
