It may not be your intention to muddle the water by pitting YOFs against MOFs, but this thread is really a YOH thing.
That was not what she was saying or anybody else for that matter. Of course we aren't winning anything (I'm talking about rings now) without Yao but that's not the argument. Just re-read the OP thread one more time.
I guess if you want grade levels of melodrama then the poster I replied too is more of a drama queen than the thread starter. why? because the person I replied to automatically assumed some sort of hate towards yao because someone said tmac is better than yao. it's like this automatic reply that people HATE yao if they say tmac is better. yes finalsbound is wrong when she says the team is MUCH better with yao out versus when we have tmac out. yao has finally learned to pass and step his game up enough to where we are equal with either of our stars out. and she is wrong to state her point of view after we have just played this very weak set of teams with yao out. yes she is being over the top but the other guy saying that she just hates yao is MORE over the top.
I just don't see it, wnes. oh come on, you know she was just arguing that we can win at a higher rate with a Tmac-only team vs a Yao-only team...even if it is pointless to argue this issue because we aren't winning anything with just one. She wasn't actually saying that we can win it all w/out Yao.
You wanna know what I love about this thread? It's seeing all of the YOF's making complete asses of themselves. Somebody says that we're still capable of winning without Yao and they get their panties in a wad and throw personal insults at people.
YOFHs.....LOL...that's Yao-Only-Fan-Hater's for those we didn't quite get the acronym are equally as r****ded. Don't single out one set of fans for their homerisms and then let off another set of fans for their equally stupid mannerisms. Unless of course, you are personally bias against one group of people that you can't see the similarities between these two groups.
well all I know is that I hate all chinese and black people just because of how they look. I think the team was better off being led by ryan bowen and scott padgett. I am a BOF and a POF.
Was this thread necessary? Why can't you guys just have your cake AND eat it? We have BOTH Yao and T-Mac, and they love each other and get along better than any superstar duo in recent memory. They genuinely root for each other and are more than willing to defer depending on what's best for the team on any given night. Seriously, just appreciate what you have and stop with this silliness. We have Both guys and neither is going anywhere for a loooooooong time, so get used to them. It's the MacMing Dynasty...get with the program!
After only several wins over these less than average teams, such talk is already emerging, and that's really mind boggling to even read the title. First of all, the basic tone here is such discussion is meaningless. Just as you mentioned, this is currently a guard's league. Why is that? Because the rules have changed to favor guards, not centers. Even Yao has arrived as the league's most dominant center, when T-Mac the best swingman in NBA is able to be like himself, he obviously will have more impact to the team. However, to say that Mutombo right now is even the same or better than Yao is in the team is really nonsense. Didn't you see today's game against Memphis? Rox's defense was struggling because Yao was not there. Mutombo is great, and at his age, he's the best there. But he simply can't replace Yao in both ends, esp. against tougher teams with better inside presents. The last, Yao was unfortunate to be out at the wrong time. He finally learned how to be the leader to win games after we kicked Spurs' ass, then he got hurt right the next game! I actually believed that's the turning point of the team, they eventually realized that they can win great teams with Yao as the leader, and they were starting to get the chemistry. Yao also was at his best not only in scoring, but also in assists and blocks. Also note the fact the games Yao led the team go through were almost all top teams, comparing with the current winning streak against almost all low teams. I'm very happy to see T-Mac is finally back, and really hope he could hold up till Yao is back. Then Rox team will have a great chance in going much deeper this season in playoffs. Just don't be silly to say the team could be without Yao. For a short while against weaker teams maybe, but not for long, not against better teams.
I thought this is a Rox fans BBS, not the same silly forums where there are people hopping around to single Yao fans out as YOFs. Obviously I was wrong, and sad to watch such comments here.
I knew this thread was coming. The Rox have done great with Yao out but like it has been said, the last three wins were against horrible teams. Just remember Yao had to play against the West while Tmac was out and was one last second three by Baron and the collapse in LA from being 4-2. As for Tmac, the Rox have only played against the East so far, and Memphis which has the worst record in the league in compiling their 3-1 record. That being said, a win is a win and a loss a loss so I give Tmac his props. The next 11 games will be the telling factor though. The Rox play 8 current playoff teams including one each against the Wests top 5 teams and their other three games are against the West. If they can win 6 of the 11, we would be golden.
I'm a YoF but i think it's ok if someone thinks TMac-led team is better. Yao's just rounding into superstar form this season. compared with some YoF threads flying around here 2 years ago when Yao's playing mediocre, I'm fine with this thread.
I do not buy the word "YOF". I have not seen a single Yao Fan who does not care about Rockets in this Forum. If a Yao fan also roots for Rockets, you can not call him Yao-ONLY-fan. Having seen the "YOF" being thrown around, I realize the some people just like to group Rockets fans into subset. By their definition of "*OF", there should also be "MOF","BOF","HOF". I know some people have followed Battier or Hayes to this forum, and they feel special about certain players on the rockets team. What amazes me is they claim no such thing as "*OF" except "YOF". I thought only a fan can determin whether he is a Rockets fan. But here you have a lot of "judges" determine whether you are a Rockets fan. They are just as stupid as those who claimed on CNN that the US troop would be greeted with flowers in Iraq because they were there to liberate them. I am usually an easy guy in any forum. And I am really tired getting abused by some of the "true Rockets fans" here.
Its funny, Yao goes out last year and a light goes on and he comes back like some kind of Frankenstein, completely transformed. McGrady misses 7 games and he comes back like the old TMac, aggressive, scoring 30PPg, being the primary scorer and not deferring. I can't wait until Yao comes back, the vision of this team is coming into focus. Two superstars surronded by good role players (Head, Battier, Bonzi). We could go a long way.
I think I heard CD mention the vision also included Sura but it wasn't meant to be. If we add Sura's game, it's guaranteed.
