hmm wonderful thread, not even Yao nor Tmac cares about who is the better player as long as the team wins.

    Pointless thread.

    Happy new year everyone :D

Good thread finalsbound. Your point is well taken. Any win is good. We saw last season we could lose to even the mediocre teams without our stars. this is an upbeat thread for a tough time without Yao.

We miss Yao and this team will be better for it when he comes back. Like when Duncan is missing from the Spurs and they are better in the playoffs when he returned.

The remaining Rocket players will become more cohesive and strong without depending so much on Yao. This is do or die for this team.

This is not a disrespectful thread toward Yao.

    Good Thread.

Wrong Wrong Wrong! Be objective guys. Look at the opponents and schedule, and you know what happened when T-Mac's out. At that time, even Yao and T-Mac at the court at the same time, we still can't guarantee a win.

I don't believe it's 'YOHing' even though there are a few who love to see Tmac succeeding and Yao failing just to stick it to YOFs just like there are YOFs who'd like to see the vice-versa scenario just to prove Yao is better.

I personally believe -from what I've seen this year- that Yao is a better player but Tmac makes the team better for a myriad of reasons.

From all the games from last year and this, it just seems we are better as a team with Tmac leading the way without Yao than the other scenario. There's no shame in admitting that nor is it necessarily good old fashion "yao hating".

we can't get anywhere significant without yao back but t-mac's led less talented teams to the playoffs before. if he continues to play like this he can carry a team.

against the better teams we're gonna need atleast one of our big guards back though.

we can hold ship without yao but let's not underrate how good he is. things may move faster without him in the middle but we're not a better team and yao in the post is inarguably the most effective play in the nba.

I think you have to have a star-level perimeter player on your team to win in this league. Hakeem is the only player of memory that's won a championship without a star on the perimeter, and he needed Drexler to win the second one.

Let's face it, without TMac, our second best perimeter player is Bonzi, and he's really more of a post player. The talent drop-off after Bonzi is phenomenal. Luther, Rafer, Shane, and Juwan have all been known to go off for 20 every once in a while, but none of them qualify as star-level talent.

We're playing smaller without Yao, and we're winning games. Our role players are stepping up. While Rafer has struggled, the rest are picking up the slack. I still don't think we can beat a winning team unless we overachieve, i.e. TMac goes off for 40 or a couple of our role players get hot. We're fun to watch right now, but with Yao we'd be dominating.

Ithink it's safe to say Yao lead team could beat ATL and MEM at home too. In fact, Yao lead team went 2-3 on the road against west teams with defeat on a Last second 3 pointer in GS, double overtime loss in LA, I call that unlucky.

Both Yao and Tmac are not replacable on this Rox team, although Deke can somewhat offset Yao's loss on defensive end in limited minutes, Nobody can replace Tmac on both end of the floor, his scoring and decision making on offense and his size on defense.

We got a real tough schedule ahead of us.

Utah, Bulls, Lakers, Denver, Sacr., Mavs, Suns, Denver, Spurs....all in Jan.

Nothing would make me happier than winning every single one of these games even if we do it without Yao.

I hope you won't root against the Rockets just to prove some little point to complete strangers on the internet just to feel better about yourself.

You know what Tmac would say about this thread? "Who cares?"

He is a team player. He would probably say that Yao is more dominant offensively. In the first 3 quarter I would take Yao. In the fourth I would take Tmac, because it's much easier to double Yao in the fouth quarter.

Well, I'm glad we're able to win with Yao out. T-Mac is clearly feeling as good as he has all season and that's the reason we're doing well, but I'm still skeptical how we'll do against tougher Western Conference teams. I don't think we'll do very well until Yao comes back.

I think there's no doubt that our role players get much better shots with T-mac on the court rather than Yao. Yao draws a lot of defensive attention but he's not a play maker. T-mac on the other hand can do both. So if T-mac is "on", of course I would much rather have T-mac. Yao's defensive presence can be picked up by Deke and Howard can do the low post scoring.
