    3Rings,

    1) He got 9 Million not 'over 10 million', so you're wrong.

    2) Charles got 9 Million in the second year after having gotten One million in the first year. Do you honestly think no team in the NBA wouldn't have paid him more than 5 million per year for 2 years??? Huh?

Charles took one so that Scottie would come to the team. The requirement for Scottie coming to the team was a ridiculous contract. Scottie screwed over the team, but more importantly IMO, screwed over Charles. That was classless.

Thanks for reminding me that Scottie sucks. I was starting to get lazy on this issue.

Let's see, $8,000,000 difference for one year at just 5% interest is $400,000 in interest lost & compounded for the second year would be $820,000 lost. That's for just 2 years & at 5% interest which is way below what you would actually be able to get. Pushing it out to 20 years, compounded annually, would be $21,226,381.52 in interest lost. In basketball salaries, I'd have to say that's taking one for the team. [IMG]

It's so useless trying to debate with a die hard Barkley fan. No matter what his loyal fans will make him out to be the hero. He took a million because he knew he was going to get 9 or 10 the following year. He came here to win a championship. No other championship caliber team wanted him. Believe me if they did he would have jumped ship to play with them as he has done by forcing trades in the past. Please, please you blind Barkley fans, wake up an smell the $hit you're shoveling. Barkley was a great player who didn't get a ring. That's unfortunate. He is not and never should be compared directly or indirectly with Dream on any level. I await any responses as I'm sure I have ruffled a feather or two. If not, great, I really don't want to talk about Barkley any further.

eh you shut up Heypartner, How many rings does Barkley have? I can't hear you. How many 7 year old girls has he spit on since the first one? How many bar room brawls has your boy Barkley engaged in lately. Need I go on? Of course not!! The best question of all is, HOW MUCH BIGGER IS THAT BLOWHARD GONNA GET. JUST STEP AWAY FROM THE FRIDGE BIG FELLA, AND HeyP, don't challenge me again about your boy, Sir I wish I could buy myself a championship ring Barkley ever again. Now you Shut Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless I missed it somewhere, Barkley was never compared to Dream. He was used as an example of a player that could've commanded more money on the open market & instead chose to accept less money so that the team could make the deal for Pippen which, at the time, everyone thought would've made us a better team & yes, give him a chance to win a ring. Since Barkley is the only superstar player that I can remember ever doing that, I believe that he's a great example to use. If Dream will play for the veteran's minimum or whatever we can afford to give him above that, then the Rockets can boast of having had two Superstars that put the team first.

    Oh yeah, SHUT UP! [IMG]

Am I the only one who sees the inherent lack of logic in a singleminded pursuit of CWebb?

Please, consider the possibility of resigning Akeem first, then Shandon and Maurice.

Landing CWebb would guarantee a playoff run - probably a run for the Championship. But it would immediately tear apart the fragile 'comraderie' that has taken three years to build (Cat-Steve-Hakeem). We all knew about the Steve-Cat relationship, but who'da thunk about Akeem fitting in there - I think if we're all honest, none of us thought seriously about that... But that's what we've ended up with, and it works.

I'm not so sure that that attitude will be so easy to replace if we trade/buy CWebb...

If there's anything that bringing in a new player - even a star like CWebb - does to a TEAM, it's disrupting the chemistry of that team. Rox mgt, please don't make that mistake.

Last year the Lakers had an offer on the table for Charles. This is not a rumour. They actually had an offer that would´ve given him the ring he had sought for long. Instead, out of loyalty he chose to stay with the Rockets in what turned out to be his last season.

Now get your classless act out of my sight, lowly maggot.

Since75, nice that you waited for me to go to bed to respond. chicken ****.

"I am not a role model."

You always did strike me as someone who knew nothing about basketball. All your petty little threads asking me questions.

"Heypartner, what do you think about this."
"Heypartner, you must agree with that."
"Heypartner, how do I **** on the toilet and type at the same time."

You'll never understand Barkley, because you don't have the confidence in yourself to have any ideas you can call your own like Barkley.

"I am not a role model."

So, I don't care if you think I'm classless like my hero, Charles Barkley.

You cannot ruffle the feathers of Barkley lovers. We've dealt with mindless drivel like yours for over a decade. Not getting your feather ruffled is the heart and soul of a Barkley lover. There is nothing you can say other than make a fool of yourself.

Now where are the lurkers I know who went to the Vancouver game and cried. Take you shots.

"Heypartner, how do I start a basketball thread without mentioning your name."

"I am not a role model." Get lost!

Barkley bashers said in this thread that the only reason he signed for the minimum was 'cause he knew he'd get more money the next year and he knew he'd have a chance for a ring.

If Dream signs for the minimum after this season, he'd have a chance for a ring, and if he produces, he'll make more money the following year.

    The similarities are still there.

Say what you want about Barkley. When we traded for him, I thought it was a big mistake. But while Dream was having resperatory & knee problems, Sir Charles was our team. Without him, we would have had 2 more playoff-less years. I probably bashed Sir Charles at least as much as anyone when he first came, but he turned me into a fan. Too bad you Barkley nay-sayers don't see him the way I do. Great team player. Great mentor for rookies. Great work ethic. Future hall-of-famer. I'd say more, but this thread really isn't about Barkley.

But I think Dream may follow in Barkley's footsteps. We'll have to wait and see, though.

since 75 doesnt really want to 'talk about it any further' because he is the midget that went flying through that window...but then he decided he wanted to talk about it...you suck 75...you f-ing dork..

    anyway..

barkley did something nice knowing that he would be rewarded as well...whats wrong with that? he was also loyal to the team despite options to go to LA...pippen straight up screwed him and the rockets...

barkley was one of my favorite rockets and always will be..

I think he'll always be a Piston, but I know he loved it here. And who the hell could fault a Hakeem-Barkely-Pippen team? They should have two more championships under the belt.

Goddam those Jazz. Stockton, specifically. That man singlehandedly stole his ring (shoulda been our 3rd); Who'da thunk that trio would end up ringless?

Goddam Jazz. I've had hard times liking Mormons ever since. (oh, sorry, that's a PC violation, I'm sure I'll get cited)

Goddam Pippen...I guess there's alot to be pissed about... No, just Pippen.

All Since75 is saying is that Barkley isn't a saint for playing for a million. He did it just as much for himself as he did to be 'unselfish'. Thus, it wasn't the selfless act people make it out to be. Don't act like I'm some kind of Barkley basher either, I wanted the guy back this year. Just being realistic.

There's nothing un-PC about that statement, it just doesn't make sense. None of the Jazz players are Mormon. If you had said "I hate Shawn Bradley and Steve Young, and so I have a hard time liking Mormons," well at least I could have seen your stereotype. But the last time I checked, Stockton was a Protestant.

Hey P, I thought that you would have more class than you have shown but I guess not. It appears that you are a very immature person. Name calling and the other comments you made were totally uncalled for. I couldn't give a damn about Barkley or any other player. None of these guys pay any of my monthly bills. I am a person first and a fan second with an opinion. I said that I would ruffle feathers because anything said against Barkley is considered sacreligious to a Barkley fan. It's obvious that the incidents I mentioned didn't happen. I just made them up. You pride yourself on being an articulate individual it appears and knowledgeable about the game of basketball. Because I felt that these were accurate depictions of you, I in the past have posted asking your opinions. I actually respected you. If I said anything that you feel warranted calling me unintelligent or any of the other adjectives you used regarding me, I apologize. That being said, you and all the other posters who have made even more hurtful and derogatory comments about me personally can go straight to Hell. I thought we were all adults here or atleast mature enough to not resort to name calling and character assasinations. Of course everyone will say that no one assasisinated my character, but go back and read the responses. Take it a step further an read any of my posts. I don't try and intimidate or humiliate anyone. No one on this board in my opinion can or should ever question a person's intellect because that person has a different opinion about a player or a subject. You people need to get a life.

By the way, Thank you Freak for understanding my point. What you said was exactly the point I was making.

One other point, HeyP, I'm a grown man. I don't ever have to wait until you're asleep to respond to any response you or anyone else makes. Now if you want to take issue with me outside of this forum, I'd be glad to do so. Look me up, email me, do whatever you need to do. But please don't run your mouth as if you're capable of doing something more than just that, running your mouth. Take that not as a threat but as and invitation for you to be the man you think you are. Read between the lines, you're a smart guy. I bet I know what you're thinking about me and guess what? You're absolutely right.
