I think 9-6 is pretty realistic for the rest of our games. I think the Lakers are definitely beatable, especially at our house. I also think we can take at least one of the three games in the eastern road trip we have at the end of the month. Sure hope Rudy is cleared to play soon. Seems like his return date is getting pushed back day by day.
Then I'll play pessimist (sp?) Fri 21 at Golden State W Sun 23 at Sacramento L Mon 24 at LA Clippers W Wed 26 LA Lakers L Thu 27 at San Antonio L Sat 29 Denver W Mon 31 at New Jersey L APRIL Wed 2 at Milwaukee L Fri 4 at Philadelphia L Sun 6 Orlando W Tue 8 Portland L Wed 9 at Utah L Sat 12 Seattle L Tue 15 Memphis W Wed 16 at Denver W Puts us going 6-9 down the stretch and finishing 41-41....not a playoff record.
You should have known this is coming when Francis made comment like this after he was awarded Player of the Week, "Can you believe this? I took eight(?) shots last two games, now they gave me this awards?" I thought he finally got IT based on his comment, but obviously, he truely thought the league made a mistake with the award.
If that happens, there will be no playoffs. The Rockets better wake up and as Larry Bird would say, "stop playing like a bunch of women." Phoenix's battle tested players like Googs and Hardaway gives them a good shot at staying a few games over .500 the rest of the way. man I am still pissed at the Rockets effort in the last two games.
I don't know. If we take 1 of the next 3, and then one from either San Antonio OR the Lakers, that's 2. We get Denver, that's 3. So entering April, we need 6 wins out of 8. Considering the April schedule, and the motivation of the whole Rudy controversy, I think 6-2 maybe possible. If that doesn't work for you, I think even 5-3 in April will get us in. Suns lost a game they were expected to win at home, and we lost a game we were expected to lose AWAY. Let's make it easy. We CAN'T match Phoenix win for win from here? I think we can. Here's Phoenix: Washington (1st night back to back) @Dallas (2nd night back to back) Seattle @Memphis @Detroit @Indiana Denver Minnesota (1st night back to back) @Lakers (2nd night back to back) @Denver (1st night back to back) Dallas (2nd night back to back) Golden State San Antonio @Portland (1st night back to back) @Seattle (2nd night back to back) Count em: 4 back to backs for those 8 games, arguable, the best case scenario they'll win 3 of those 8. Outside of that, they have a 3 game roadtrip with a streakign Memphis, and East contenders Indiana and Detroit. It's SO optimistic to think that they'll win 8 or 9. If they lose to Washington, we start worrying about catching Utah.
Are you that naive?? Because he said, "Can you believe this? I took eight shots the last two games, now they gave me this awards," (he didn't exactly say that, BTW, but that's basically it) you think it means Francis believes they made a mistake in giving it to him? Where do some of you come up with your way of thinking? *lol* Really. It's called BEING SURPRISED. The Player of the Week award is usually given to players with GREAT statistical weeks; and by Francis' standards, he's put up much better numbers than last week's -- like the numbers he put up when he won it earlier this season (during the week that included his 44-point, 11 assist game v. Lakers). So he was caught off guard by the honor. Get it? Please guys, stop being so simple-minded. Most of you are not, but some are. You guys seem too smart to think this way. For instance, to continuously go back and forth between liking Francis when the TEAM is playing well and not liking him as soon as they lose one game even, then spouting out the same BS that he's selfish, taking too many shots, etc , is ridiculous. It's not a good way to live, for one, and two, some of you make these claims despite stats and his improved play telling a different story. And, daoshi, I ask again, you can HONESTLY say you took Francis' comments to mean he thought the league made a mistake it giving him the POTW award? *shakes head* Same thing with Mobley. You guys go back and forth with him like an alchy (alcoholic) to a liquor store; when in fact, Mobley never really improves. So obviously, I don't really sing his praises when the TEAM'S playing well. I think someone already said this a while back, but I'll reiterate: the Rockets' success is not really predicated on how well Mobley does (hence the record without him this season). But he does have the ability to screw things up for HOU with his ill-advised shots and one-dimensional game. So the team's success just covers up his play @ times. He may have a stretch of good games (like during the five-game winning streak), but that's about it. Francis has improved and continues to. Doesn't mean he won't make you want to pull you hair out every now and then, but he's not perfect. No one is of course. Keep that in mind Yao-only fans.
I say Rockets win the next 15 games, and we move to 7th, while Utah and Phoenix duke it out for 8th seed. Maybe I'm dreaming, but til everything's over it's what I believe in!
As a die hard Comets fan, I take that Larry Bird comment personal. Any comet fan will agree with me that those classy ladies "get it". They play the best brand of Basketball in Houston. They are unselfish, hardworking and disciplined. They don't make the same mistake 3 times and above all they have 4 Rings. So lay off the great ladies. Oh btw, Francis is not a leader. Mobley is a scrub. Larry Smith is clueless.
We beat Phoenix and then..... We hit the road. We are horrible on the road, so I wasn't counting on winning anymore than 2 or 3 anyway. This is a tough road trip guys, but Phoenix isn't playing any better than we are right now. I still think we will get in, but I am ready for RT to get back so I will feel a little better about our chances. Mr. Mean SUX!!!!
They won't beat the warriors. The best chance for a win is against the clippers. If that don't happen the rockets are looking at a 7 game losing streak.
Aren't you glad you had to though? lol, seriously... If we win 1 of the next 4, the playoffs become more of a reality. Why? Because, even if we lose the next 4, we're in good position to make the playoffs. We'll be about 1.5 games behind Phoenix, but our schedule turns into a cuprcake while Phoenix's turns into HELL.
Roger that. We just have to beat the Clippers. And try our best against San Antonio and Los Angeles and Sacramento... And please just beat the Nuggets...
