You are absolutely 100% Spoiler correct I can safely say that either the Magic, Lakers, Celtics, or Heat will win the championship. Can't say the same for NFL or MLB.
3 years ago we didn't have Kevin Martin, C-bud and Aaron Brooks was just a rookie. The Lakers upgraded their team however Kobe and Bynum are just about as healthy as Yao Ming. Also 3 years ago Luis Scola hadn't activated beast mode yet. I'd say we managed to close the distance somewhat, and if Yao can regain his 20-10 self we'll actually stand a good chance of beating them.
Either way, you need them Even T-Mac last season when he was with us for 8 mins. a game, got more calls for him then when he wasn't on the floor. Superstars get the calls, not the role players like Brooks or Scola. Look how many calls Melo or CP3 got in their favors.
Kobe healthy as Yao Ming? LMFAO! Kobe doesn't have pins to hold up his knee like Yao does his feet. Kobe's injuries aren't even remotely as horrific as Yao's. While Bynum is injury prone like Yao, he has a better chance to recover because he has youth on his side.
I think it's amazing that it's accepted by everybody that the NBA cheats. Yes, stars getting all the calls = cheating by the league. Does the NFL give a Touchdown to a running back that was stopped at the two yard line because he's a superstar? No they don't, because that would be cheating by the league. This garbage is actually widely accepted by NBA fans. It's actually part of the game. Is this absurdity or what? the league allows players like Kobe and Lebron to travel and foul at will with zero consequences. Name another league that allows this.
While we're at it, "superstar" should also be defined. If you need a superstar to contend, why are 90+% of the "superstars" in the NBA not on contending teams? Boston is a contender who doesn't have a superstar. The percentage of contenders without a superstar might be greater than the percentage of non-contenders with a superstar.
As long as it helps the Rockets, I don't give a damn. We currently don't have that star that warrents the quote " superstar calls" on our roster other than Yao. We get Melo, our free throw shots increase. Plain and simple.
Your answer is exactly what I was referring too. it is unquestionably known that the league cheats. NBA fans just don't care. weird.
I am a huge fan of baseball, football, hockey and basketball (Only because of the Rockets), and it amazes me how different basketball fans are from fans of the other sports. David Stern has known this all along and has taken advantage of it since the day he took over.
our team looks pretty good, and we FOR SURE have a deep bench ...with that said, we look pretty competitive and ready to go UNTIL we face a improved Laker's Team, another year of experienced Thunder team, the Spurs and Mavericks haven't gone anywhere, they are still good and probably a player better than our team .. We have already gone over this a few months ago though. Until they go and get Melo or another superstar they are gonna be middle to lower half in Western Conference .....just keeping it 100%
We been owning the OKC since Durant is playing, 10-1 yo be exact. we just are a bad match up for them, especially if Yao is playing. We just know how to play them and present a big match up problems especially the Bigs.
We need a superstar, you can't win a championship with a team full of good role players, you need that player that will take you to the next level, and I don't see yao that player this season.
If those guys were superstars last year, the Rockets have 3 superstars right now before any games have been played.
I won't say they were ALL role players but Allen played like one and is one now, Garnett's leg has turned into a role player and Pierce isn't a Superstar maybe a star. Rondo is their best player now and on the verge of becoming a superstar. They did have a championship pedigree which makes them a different case.
This will be the best chance yet to win a title. The Rockets will be contending for the top four seeds this year. Kobe maybe 32 but his playing time over the years have deter his body to being a 38 year old nba vet with lots of minutes log on those knees. It will be one hell of ride this season.
I don't get why people overrate OKC so much. they are the Portland team of 08-09, just made playoffs in a long time, then everybody talks about them being the 2nd best team in the west. what happened to Portland in 09-10? 1st round exit again. My prediction: OKC will make playoffs for sure, but no way out of 2nd round.
