This is stupid, no offense. Shredded? The league was not the way it is now. Hand checking, no zone defenses, slower paces etc...There is no way this generation of stars, especially Steph Curry, become superstars in the 90's. That's not hating its just fact

The nba wanted a free flowing european type game, with lots of highlights & little defense. Lebron, Steph & pretty much every star is a product of that. Guys like Jordan had to have more go to moves, greater footwork & higher IQs because the defense was more detailed

Euroleague freeflowing? That league is full of hacking. It resembles 90s bball more than current NBA.

I truly underestimated you guys obsession with Kobe Bryant lol. You will find a way to inject Kobe in just about any conversation you can. When did you actually start watching NBA basketball? Serious question

    Just answer my question kobestan

What category does kobe fall under? 80s-90s handcheck tough defense or 2000s free flowing little defense?

You have a romantic vision of the game my friend. The game didn't change because the players got worse, the game changed because the players got better.

As players got more athletic, the score went down and down. With all that hand checking and incredible athletes the pace had come to a screeching halt. If you had today's NBA players with the old rules, the scoring would be in the 60's and 70's! Do you see how hard it is to even get a rebound in today's game? You got guys jumping as high as possible to tip the ball - in the 90's and 80's guys barely had to jump to get a rebound. Rodman could hardly dunk and the guy could get 20 rebounds a game. Today's players are so quick and athletic that the court has shrunk. It takes 4 or 5 passes to get a guy who gets 2 feet of open space. You never had switching because defenders sucked back then and had to rely on things like hand checking and physicality to make players miss.

Curry and Harden, and more so LeBron would eat up those guys. Curry can hit a jump shot from 25 feet - who in the 90's could stop that without a double team???? Guys like Harden and Westbrook and Lebron are so freaking strong and athletic. They would just go right through defenders and no one would stop them. Curry would just drain 25 foot jumpers.

Modern defenses are so amazing with such athletic players they had to add a freaking defensive 3 seconds or you'd never see a layup anymore. The game had become all jump shots clanging from the rim because no one could actually get to the rim the lane was so clogged. Defensive 3 seconds probably saved the NBA. And you complain about it?

As for lower IQ, modern NBA offenses are more complex than anything run in the 80's or 90's. You think the triangle was complex? Do you see the various things teams do to get a guy 2 feet of space on a jump shot??? That's what makes Harden so amazing. Defenses know his game and still can't stop him. He's just that good.

Harden will never be mentioned in Lebron's, Kobe's, or Jordan's breath. But he is so special - and what he is doing is truly mindboggling.

It's a bball forum where anything can be discussed.

Trading Harden or CP3 in threads, does not mean anything, they won't be traded in real time, at least not at the point the threads were made.

People should chill in here, yeah the media and its coverage are toxic but dun let it get to you all.

I dunno why he is so controversial other than the beard is not hygienic at all. :p

It would be sad if you cannot even talk about a triviality like that, it's not a tyranny.

Where is the freedom of speech?

Yes the scoring was down back then, but the games were more competitive & played with WAY more intensity. So you want higher scoring at the expense of the game being watered down? Not me. Back then you had to EARN every point. The game now is played like a allstar game with no physicality. You like that? Is that entertaining to you?[/QUOTE]

The beauty of his floater is that it looks exactly like his lob to Capela up until the point the ball goes through the net.

Posted this in the "30 Point Streak Watch" thread too, but Harden just passed Durant to now have the 2nd most 40 point games among active players.

If Harden only had a different pair of shoes he would be on the Mountain Rushmore of basketball. He more than likely would have 2 rings as well. Political actions of the NBA have made him the modern day Pete Maravich.

More intensity? Are you kidding? What are you smoking? You should go back and watch those games and then come back and watch the Rockets OKC game yesterday and tell us which one had more intensity.

These guys today expend so much more energy now, and they expended a lot back in the 90's. But the game is so much faster and exhausting. Far more movement and far more up and down. Far more defensive energy as well.

The game changed because the RULES changes, not that the players got better.

The RULES made it easier for offense.
