It used to bother me but it doesn't anymore. I think it is hilarious when people talked about how awful the Smith pickup was especially after that game 2. I was cracking up reading the game thread on /r/nba while J-Smoove was being a doctor in the 2nd half. I couldn't care less what Shaq and Barkley or Skip freaking Bayliss have to say about the team.
I would say LAC is up there, too, but yeah, I'd probably give us the nod. Honestly, even GSW is somewhat disrespected just because of their lack of success in recent history and the fact that they rely so heavily on 3s (oh no!). Everyone knows they're good, but until right before the playoffs, I felt like people kept thinking they couldn't really keep it up.
Even the Rockets team of old didn't get any respect either and they made it out the 1st round several times. This is nothing new here.
You purse ninjas whining about respect? We all know what happens the moment the Rockets get respect, they start losing. I personally hope they start talking about Dwight's mother soon. The best part about being on this side of the bracket: no respect will be given.

Who gives a rats @$$ if someone respects the Rockets or not. If you're looking for self worth in what others have to say about you you're an insecure person.
I don't care. In fact, I prefer being disrespected. This Rockets team seems to be at its best when they don't think too highly of themselves.
Look, we just made it from one of the top 16 teams in the league to one of the top 8. If we make it into the top 4 before this season is over we will have proved something pretty incredible. That will carry us far and get the expectations high for the Rockets high starting next year. Nobody expects us to do anything based on how we have played over the past decade + but as Tyson Chandler put it so wisely and eloquently, History is meant to be broken!
This is a good point. Rox are not good front runners. All the disrespect will hopefully keep them hungry and motivated. Next to no one is expecting them to advance in this upcoming series so that should be a big motivator for them.
I like it. I like it that Houston is written off, that we are portrayed as villains. Having this kind of judgement around you can make you shut out the world and motivate yourself. Hopefully the Rockets develop some mental toughness to the point where they won't even be afraid when playing in an opponent's arena.
Nailed it. I especially want to emphasize the fact old school NBA types are openly rooting for Morey to fail. Liking Houston means accepting their philosophy and I don't think a lot of people are willing to do that. Golden State does the same thing as Houston only better and no says anything because their GM isn't the poster boy for basketball analytics.
