If we are not going anywhere this year, I doubt Gundy's contract will be renewed this summer. So we have to get into 2nd round or no contract for JVG, I guess. That is why Gundy is forgetting about 1-4 years.
Yes, I agree, and if he was fiery it would help with the creme puffs we have all over this team. With Range is what this team really needs- any Okur types out there? I actually think big Jake can handle this. I think JVG is part of the problem, no doubt, but lots of role players won championships, the Rockets are just lacking a little on the mix. They all like each other, but lack a BULLDOG in the rotation......someone to ignite the passion of players who play passionless basketball. DD
Yeah, I agree, I was going to mention that as well. I kind of think that stinks in that his contract situation may have hampered the development of some players that may actually be important cogs in the future. If he had say 3 years left, do you believe he might have been more prone to playing some youngsters ala Jerry Sloan? DD
Just so everyone's clear... Mike James's contract, the one we traded, did actually expire before this season. Of course, you could argue that the fact he was traded contributed to him signing elsewhere, but I chalk that up more to him being a tool.
IMO we need someone like matt harpring or carlos delfino someone who can hit jumpshots and spread the floor the minute he gets onto the court. Someone who doesn't need lots of touches but contributes with the touches he gets. Someone low-maintenance and can play decent defense... someone like kirk snyder except w/ a off the dribble jumpshot
Now you've given a reason for many JVG haters to root against the Rockets this post season. I don't think it's that easy. JVG will coach this team next year.
I am just from logic. NBA is bussiness. With 2 superstars in the team, you can not make it into 2nd round, I just do not buy it. Alexander will? I doubt it. JVG is a good coach, it is just plain bussiness.
If sam cassell can recover from his back injury (i doubt it), he would be a good addition. He will be able to get some clutch shots. Bibby would be a good option. unfortunately, he makes too much money.
At least for the time being we need to FREE BONZI to at least have a chance to get out of the first round
Actually if Luther Head could D up or handle the ball worth a damn, this conversation is moot. Get a JVG version of Head: Taquan Dean (cheap) Then let McGrady be the full time playmaker. Rafer can be the PG off the bench - 20 minutes, tops. Draft a long, lock down D, SG w/3 range: Brewer or Afflalo (one should be available when Houston picks)
