Semi-off topic. From the article: Almost 1 of 5 Seven-footers between ages 20-40 in the NBA? Seems unbelievable. And then there's other b-ball leagues like the D-league who have a couple. So it could be something like 25% 7-footers play pro ball somehow lol THATS why you can't always get kyscraper size. Simply just not enough 7 footers in the world, and then 7 footers who CAN ACTUALLY PLAY and be coordinated doing it. Why it makes sense to get "standing reaches" WITH SKILLS.
I hate to bring it to you but next time Parsons stands next to Greg Smith, tell me again who's taller.
Hakeem was referred to himself as under sized on multiple occasions and usually points to that as one of the reasons he needed his versatility.
When Yao was in his prime 06 - 07 there were stretches that the best teams in the league considered it lucky if they beat the Rockets.. Yao made it a sure win against the scrub teams of the league..
Lol @ people asking how this team is bigger than last years.... ....I don't know, use your brain, think about the acquisitions, their height and whether or not they are taller than what we played there last year. Omer, Smith, Harden, Lin, Morris are all players who are getting regular minutes now that are bigger than the guys taking the minutes there the year before. Not even counting D-Mo...
Heights without shoes: Chandler Parsons 6'8.75" Greg Smith 6'8.5" At 21, it's doubtful that Greg will continue growing. There might be a starting C somewhere in the league as short as Greg, but I can't think of one at the moment.
Most posters sure have a short memory. The rocket teams during the Yao period is among the smallest team I seen on the court. With Tmac as the 2nd tallest player on court and all other players beside Battier and Mutombo is consider as undersize for their position.
depends on which teams you're talking about. the ones with Rafer, T-Mac, Battier, Scola and Yao (the bulk of the Yao/T-Mac period) were hardly small. they played frustratingly small at times, but only Rafer (6-2 listed compared to the 6-3 Lin) was below average size at his position with Yao and T-Mac well above average. the only key players that were truly undersized were Brooks and Hayes (and they were only key players for a couple seasons at most) and later Lowry, although his size hasn't really affected his game. however, the last starting PG with decent size they've had before Lin was Francis, and it's been so long since they've had a stud at PF regardless of size (probably the undersized Barkley), although Scola in his prime was a quality starter.
Yeah but the fact that Camby was old and Thabeet didn't even see the floor doesn't really compares to this year. Having 7 footers that doesn't give a lot of production doesn't really mean you have size...
Because we are playing fast ball now, with more fast breaks ect, size isn't showing too much. unlike last year more of a half court offense.
