Why don't we just stop borrowing from the Chinese? That should solve all the problems. Pay down the debt as soon as the economy is some what normal. I cannot believe there were idiots in congress not wanting to pay off debt during the Clinton years. How do we get so many idiots in DC?

China is financing US to make and sell stuff to China. What more could US ask? You want to make your creditor and buyer angry?

If anything, we should be thanking China everyday for 10 years and hoping 1.3 billion Chinese all drink Coke, eat KFC twice a day, brush teeth with Colgate compulsively, drive Buick to everywhere 10 years from now.

The US has had a severe cashflow problem ever since W pissed away the huge surplus (less than 6 months after taking office) he had inherited from Clinton.

The US is cash poor, it needs to borrow billion of $$$ just to keep its operations going; China is the only country that has enough cash to lend to the US.

simply put, the US borrow $$$ because it needs the cash.

 

Japan doesn't have $800 billion of US debt. Their economic power is going off a cliff. Meanwhile, China and the USA will be tied to each other as the top 2 economies in the world. Neither can attack each other, without destroyinig their own economy.

 

If nations were this rational, we would never have any wars.

 

Sure we would. Many of the wars are fought for our economic interests. Democracy and freedom is just a cover.

 

The Repubs were terrified that with the debt paid off the Dems would want to spend tax revenues on national health, building up the social security fund, public education-- government spending that the public would like and get used to.
