We went 2-2 against the champs with a weaker team than we currently have. We have too much heart to get blown out. You should know this by now..
It just made me want to spit when I read the Rockets in that group of the Kings, Grizzlies, Warriors, Timberwolves. Its just not right.
I laughed at this. Did Spurs fans get some basketball knowledge and credibility when I wasn't looking?
i still dont get why its all of the sudden "lottery time." i think this thread is showing which posters are gonna ride with the rockets win or lose, and which posters lose hope in july when the regular season is still like 3 or 4 months away. we didnt have tracy for the entire playoffs, and they still did alright. we lost both of our centers, and we still did alright. so how is this different? and dont reply with that, "the season is 82 games long" crap. look at the competition in the west. spurs and lakers. wow. and then theres denver, portland, and so on and so on. i honestly think that this lineup could go head to head with a good chance of winning with any team in the west.
LOL you just said getting the 7th seed is a waste of a season. How is that not tanking? Why don't you go root for the Grizzlies? That team ends up in the lottery every single year, and you don't even to make them tank, they just lose naturally.
This reporter for SI will eat his words by the time the playoffs come around. Then he will learn that the Rockets never belonged in the same category as the Kings, Grizzlies, Warriors, or Timberwolves...
The Rockets will not go on court and play for the lottery, there not that kind of team. This will be a great time for players like Brooks, Scola, Ariza and others to improve their game with the extended playing time they will get.
I can't believe the logic on this board! Many of you want the Rockets to tank in order to get a top draft pick when most lottery picks are either busts or take time to develop. You don't win with young players!!! Championship teams have several good veterans and solid role players. Losing many games may land a top pick, but the team would lose revenues because it won't be playing on national tv, get playoff bonus money, and generally, casual fans don't pay money to see bad teams. I bet you didn't think of that! Then next summer, in the free agent sweepstakes, not many (if any) star players would choose to play for a bottom dwelling, rebuilding team when they can contend for a championship elsewhere. Finally, this team has showed us the past two seasons that it can compete (and win) despite adversity. Remember the 22-game winning streak or the 2nd round performance with the eventual champions Fakers despite losing Yao and McGrady? This team has added winning players and the young players are only getting better. I don't understand the logic of why you all want the Rockets to tank this year when they have good talent and a never-give-up attitude.
God some of you fans make me want to vomit. Where is the pride? The season hasn't even started yet and u guys talk about tanking. I can understand if we are 10-25 then we can considering tanking, but losing on purpose without any attempt to win is down right pathetic. At least go down with a fight instead of retreating into the corner and waving your white flag. Post like these really show the true colors of some fans around here. Team chemistry is too under rated these days.
I can't believe this dude compared us to the Kings. Seriously? Damn, man. I guess defying the odds and beating Portland when everyone said they'd whoop us, and then taking the eventual NBA Champions to 7 games, 4 without Yao, isn't enough to show we aren't some bottom-dwelling team. The East may have the stronger top teams, but any of the lower Western teams could make the East playoffs. Didn't like Detroit have a losing record and still make it in? Anyway, this season, all I can ask is that the Rockets go into every game and play with all of their heart.
The game of basketball is very much about playing smart basketball, chemistry, defense, coaching and the spirit to fight and win and not at all about what personel you got. In a franchise with bad losing culture, no matter who it's got, it's bad culture is still there preventing them from advancing. The Rockets, however, actually have a good and positive basketball culture than most other teams. A team that's made up of All-Stars that don't work with each other will be destined to fail
I disagree. A bunch of scrubs who really want to win aren't going to beat a bunch of prissy talented guys. Example: The Lakers won the championship.
If they are scrappy, work hard, and give the young guys a chance, they might be entertaining. Unfortunately, as presently configured I predict about 30 something wins. We are delusional if we think the present lineup is going to take the Lakers to seven games in the second round. But some more moves are likely, we will see. This is a painfully boring offseason; no expectations whatsoever, unlike last year.
I agree 100%. And for an example of a team of all-stars falling on their collective ass, look no further than O'Neal/Bryant/Malone/Peyton.
Man can't believe that ppl want the rockets to tank to get a lottery spot. With the team right now I would just like the players to try as hard as the can to win every game this year and if their lottery bound then so be it. As long as they don't give up that trying to win at all cost attitude. If they do decide to tank, no matter what player we get we would be having a team of losers next year....
They are basically not fans. They try to post as one but in reality they just hang around when the team is winning.
