Raven has said to tank in other threads, but I don't see anything wrong in going as hard as we can and making the 7th or 8th seed - note that we could get someone like Bosh interested as we would just need one elite player to show up, and then we could do some serious damage.

im just tired of first round exits man. im ok with playing hard. but im also ok if we suck while doing so, to give us a better shot at a brighter future. We have suffered this long, i can go another couple of years. as long as we do whats right for the long term

You said a 7 seed would be a waste of a season? How so? how would our group of guys playing team ball and managing to make the playoffs be a waste of a season? because we didn't get a lottery pick??? makes no sense to me

so, you would rather see this team suck all season long...just so we have a chance at a top 5 pick? Do you realize that about 50% of the top five picks in the last 20 years have been busts or role players you could get in free agency?

i would rather see our team suck and get better, than make stupid acquisitions just to get the 7th seed. I know there isnt a such thing as a lock, but if we spend our season just to get 7th seed, at the sake of developing our youth, then i call it a waste.

We are in great shape for next season

Let's see. Isn't this the same team that took the Lakers to the brink, minus Artest who stunk it up against LA and plus Ariza who won a couple of games for LA? The NBA doesn't have to be about superstars. Don't undersell RA.

lets just agree to disagree. i meant potentially lackluster acquisitions just for the sake of "competing" ie 7th seed. im ok with what we have done to date.

that's because those picks were not made by Morey and they were not playing for Adelman.

actually having the worst record does actually give you at least the 4th pick. and i say do your best but i will still be rooting for us to lose.

at this point im hoping to clear cap space for next year and trading say battier and scola for a pick and expiring contracts, they are both old and we need to start over. no one wants to hear it but its true. the rockets70% of payroll have bad wheels. so we are going no where so the smart thing to do is set your self up for the immediate future. that is what morey will do and you guys dont want to hear it. but you can cry all you want and say i wish i could give you negative rep etc. but it doesnt change a damn thing. we will be getting younger this season and next and setting ourselves up to get a good pick/durable max free agent.

    The shape of the Rockets:

50% of team's payroll goes to the players who can not play.
no play maker, no closer, no post presence.
no superstar, no all star, no star, no lottery pick, no upcoming young star.
Best player is Scola, who is a free agent soon.

any other team with worse shape than Rockets? bobcats maybe.

its funny how fast some people forget that just 2 months ago, this same team (minus ariza, andersen, and possibly budinger and taylor) took the lakers to 7 games. now we actually have a center, we have ariza, and two solid looking draft picks and we actually got worse somehow? someone please explain.

    I'm wondering the same thing.

spaceage - so your saying you want to develop our young guys but not so much that we make the playoffs?????

I meant financially for 2010. We have not made any rash, stupid trades or signings that will significantly affect the 2010 offseason.

And this team, with Artest who STUNK IT UP in most of the LA series, took them to 7 games. I'm just saying...with the RA offense and a committment to defense, we are not in bad shape (considering the $40mm in suits on the bench...or in Tracy's case...in Chicago)

So how can a team that goes from almost beating the Lakers without Yao to NBA lotery??? Because of Artest right?? Now you guys realize how important Artest is to this team even though he put dismal numbers in the Playoffs?? It's Artest presence and energy that makes the team better. Too bad Morey don't realize this and let him free. I have said it before, teams that play us, fear the ROCKETS even before they step on the court...it's because of Artest bad boy image. It's very important...it is equivalent to guys that does the little things that don't show up in the stats sheet.

    1. Next year's draft is going to be very very good
    2. If we want to contend, we can trade our lottery pick for ALOT depending on Yao's status.
