I know it is hard for us to see what the plan is, and the mounting losses, but there are things that are trending upwards.

    1. We had only one big on the roster that was NBA quality at the start of the season we now have three bigs - and they ALL can shoot the 3ball. This will allow us to go big, go small and be much more versatile, I like the Olynyk and Wood combo - hopefully we can see more of that.

    2. Kevin Porter Jr - is really a keeper - at least on offense - he has work to do on defense for sure, but the NBA time he is getting will accelerate his development and DEFENSE is more about effort than talent, I am 100% sure once we focus on that it will clean up quick - remember we are trying to tank right now....so I think Silas is just letting guys learn - and not worrying about D at this point.

    3. We still have Wall and Gordon and NWaba out - all 3 will really help - but we don't want to win right now, so we are letting them rest for extra time.

    4. Kenyon Martin Jr - Hopefully he becomes the next Sean Marion - he would be the answer to us at SF.....big find here.

To me, we just need to get more mature, focus on D, and get healthy.........and churn in some better shooters at the 3pt line.....and that will be the difference.

This team could turn around real fast with a couple more moves........NEXT YEAR!

I think we have some talent... and some assets... i think we could be competitive next year if the balls fall our way and we have an aggressive off season... not championship - but prob playoffs...
...prob is that when u get comfortable tanking... then why not tank a little more and really stockpile some assets... and by then a couple assets havent worked out, so then yer gonna tank a little more to shore up the new holes... and the next thing u know u r the 90s clippers...

So i hope we viewed this as a 1 season thing - jus lost Harden and WB after all... and arent making tanking our new culture...

    next off season will tell...

I concur and as much as I am not a fan of Tillman - he is a driven man, one who can't stand losing - so I expect that we will get better much faster than normal teams.......and we have some pieces to build with.....when before we had Harden and pretty much nothing else - especially after getting rid of Capela and CP3.

I really want to keep Kelly Olynyk too - he is a very versatile big.

Unfortunately Olynyk will probably be gone in free agency and so will Nwaba, right? Would be great to keep them both. With the rest we have we’ll still be pretty good with health though. Would be great to be able to package some of our assets for an off-season trade and would be amazing to keep our pick and hit on it too.

    DD,

We have three draft picks. What do you want from those assets? Let’s assume we get a top 4.

    Brown
    Nwaba
    Kelly O

should have all been moved for anything you can get at the deadline.

I am going to wait to see where we land, but unless we get a TRANSCENDENT player, I would be more in favor of picking up someone that is budding but has not blossomed like Harden.

We have bird rights on all our players so I think there is a good chance we can keep those we want.

I want to be tall again for the purposes of defense. That being said if we can't get Cade Cunningham and his all around talent, I think I want Suggs. Regardless, I imagine that who you take at the top of a draft greatly influence what you draft later. I found a few later in the first round guys that could work out:

I love the idea of getting tall players at the SF that can block shots like Robert Horry. Jalen Johnson fits that mold for me:

Charles Bassey is kind of a classic big man anchor:

Ariel Hukporti moves pretty well as a big guy. He has the ability to get to the other side of the rim with a step or two like Drexler (totally different size players, but one similar move on offense):

Anyway, I think your assessment of the team is pretty darn fair, but we need some tall athletes with our picks. If we end up drafting Mobley, I'd like to see us go for Dosunmu with a later pick. He's pretty big for a point and quite an athlete:

Another long athlete from the list. He's young and might fit your Harden idea?:

I mean it is not easy but it would be easier to bounce back as a playoff contender than a real title contender.

For a title contender you'd need real spending and 1 or 2 superstars again at the very least.

    Building latter is lot harder.

We definitely have some great pieces. Keepers are Wood, Olynk, Tate, Nwaba, KPJ and Martin. I am not big on Wall and Gordon and rather see a complete young talent and I simply do not see Wall considering himself a bench player or an expensive veteran motivator for our young roster. If we somehow get lucky and land Cade then considering him being a versatile floor leader that can do little of everything, it will help our young roster immensely.

I think Porter is just a chill kid who is willing to let Wood & Wall fight over whose the franchise player. I think he cares more about getting everyone touches rather then try to be another Harden with the ball

It must be awkward having Wall & Wood talk about themselves as franchise players every time a reporter puts a microphone in their face. I think he will continue to improve and have much more confidence with his role on the team at the start of next season

I also think Kelly is a much better veteran mentor to be around then Wall or Wood

Completely agree - but I think Stone has done a good job and let's be honest, great players don't want to rebuild, so it is imperative we get to being a playoff team sooner than later.

LOL - my sperling has never been the beast.......ok Shawn Marion!

We need to hire a defensive specialist. The defense looks lost and progressively more lost as the game progresses. We need to scalp Nate McMillan

Who is the 3rd NBA quality big man?

Also, do you think KO will even be here next year? That seems unlikely, unless we just give him way more than he's worth. I can't see why he'd want to be here unless it's for a big payday.

Lastly, what have you seen from Wall that makes you think he can contribute to winning?

Yeah, our cap sheet points to this not being a quick turnaround.

Think we have about 98 million committed to 10 guys next season. 10 guys who are on this already really crappy team.

Projected 112 million dollar cap. Possible high lotto pick takes up a lot of that space.

Likely have to operate above the cap to bring back any of our FAs.

Owner who isn’t keen on paying.

I’d expect more of the same next season, though hopefully we have a foundational piece to groom.
