I agree....I went on detox a couple of years ago and lost a ton of weight....didn't mean I was in great basketball shape.

better to guess he's in good shape based on a thin face vs. a fat face.

I don't know why most of you guys aren't rooting for Steve. Is it that you don't like Steve or just want to see Brooks play? I'm hoping Steve comes back atleast 80%, because at 80% he is still better than Brooks at all aspects of the game except speed. So for those who want to see Brooks as our main backup, how that saying goes, "be careful what you wish for". He should not be the main backup on a championship caliber team, and we can't keep counting on Rafer to play 40+minutes a game. So everyone better hope Steve will be ready.

Sorry but I missed the part where you said you played in the NBA. The fact that he looks slimmer than before is a good sign. And I'm pretty sure Steve didn't go on detox.

People are being either way too positive about Francis, or way too negative. Referring to him as a "former all-star," implying that he still has the same abilities, is silly. With his injuries and track record in recent years, no one should expect to see the Steve Francis of old. But he's young enough that, if he comes in with the right attitude and in shape, and manages to avoid the injury bug, he could make a solid contribution. Maybe he could even flash some vintage Francis moves once in awhile. To declare him definitely, positively washed up and useless is premature. I think with Francis, a lot depends on attitude.

Your point about the amount of talent that's being added to what was already a really good team is well taken, though. You're adding Yao Ming and Ron Artest to the team that continued that fantastic winning streak after Yao went down last year. Not to mention Barry. The Rockets are going to be a force. The rest of the NBA should be quaking in their Nikes.

Steve having a comeback year is just one of many pieces, that if were to fall into the correct place, could make this one of the best teams ever. I'm excited !

Unless you are a closet Miss Cleo you are just mouthing off. What SF3 will be able to do good or bad is a complete unknown at this point. It bodes well on the odds that he is young and lost some weight, nothing more. Camp and Preseason will tell the tale.

In this so call deep West the Rockets were able to win 55 games with players injured. And a key player being Yao.

Don't worry about Rover16. Franchise must have stole his girlfriend in a previous life.

No offense guys, but when you have taken to hoping and rating a player not based on what happens on the court but pictures in hopes that he returns to a form not seen in years, is the definition of his failure.

until francis does it in a game, even pre-season this discussion should be tabled until then.

Air is not free. Even though we don't pay while we breathe, but we do pay air tax. In addition, air and water are two most previous resource on the earth!

My optimism is because he has shown the capability of taking over a game during small periods the last two years and the only thing holding him back was his weight and knee. He had surgery on the knee and obviously addressed the weight issue, so I think the chances are decent they he can contribute this year.

I'll wait a couple of regular season games to judge whether or not Steve can contribute to this team.
