We are essentially adding 3 (former)all-stars to last years playoff team for free

Steve Francis? He may not be a NBA player because he is not health, so this one should not be accounted, but Barry should be accounted as a half of all-stars. Yes, we are essentially adding two and a half all stars, are in a very good shape, and will be in a better shape if Francis can come back as a solid backup point guard.

Good to know some people have so much confidence in Steve after seeing pictures of him in street clothes at a party.

Clyde was looking pretty fit in his suits on the telecasts last season so I see no reason why he can't come back and give the team 18/5/5 off the bench.

Barry did make the all-rookie team back in the day. He also won a Slam Dunk and was selected for at least one 3pt Shootout.

Apparently, some people have determined the details of his workout regimen, what he eats on a daily basis and the health of his knee based on 2 pictures at a nightclub. I'm surprised they didn't tell us what TV shows he's been watching and what magazines he reads. That should be obvious from a picture, right?

I have no ideas of Stevie being an All-Star this year but I would love for him to have a great year. It's really easy to like The Franchise.

So, apparently Steve Francis is the 9/11 of the clutchfans boards, good to know. Apparently, add Steve Francis to any conversation and it suddenly splits the crowd and causes controversy.

I think what the OP is saying is that SF3 is basically a no-cost possibility. It's basically like getting a lotto ticket for free. Yeah, the chances of it winning it all is pretty low, but you might get something good out of it. To all those out there, Yao and Ron-Ron basically have the same amount of potential for success and failure. Personally, I don't see how either one of them does this team any good if they get injured before the playoffs.

For those who doubt Steve please just hold your tongue, trust me, if he busts you'll more than surely get you're obligatory "I told you so", and, to those who think this is the second coming of "The Franchise" don't get your hopes up. Steve Francis is like finding a lotto ticket on the ground and winning $500, it's not gonna make it so you can quit your job, but at the same time wouldn't you still bend over to pick it up? Well, unless you're Bill Gates....

Not hatred.. just people not being pie-in-the-sky either.

When was the last time SF3 actually contributed to a winning NBA team?

Orlando maybe? That 'almost' against the Lakers?

Francis' problem has not normally been physically, it's been between the ears.

Last couple of years, that has been made worse by physical problems, which has reduced him to essentially zero as a contributor.

As another poster said, he is only 31, he was originally regarded as better than Baron Davis, at least certainly in his class, and BD has overcome a lot worse physical setbacks than Francis is facing, so it's certainly not impossible that he comes back and can make a serious difference.

However, he has to prove it consistently on the court, that he can contribute and can fit in.

I don't think anyone is actually rooting for SF3 to fail. It's just that we do not have any compelling reason to *expect* anything from him ever again. If he manages it, then it is as the OP said, 'adding a free piece', like a found lotto ticket.

Personally, I am hoping he can give us something this year, but I will not be in anguish if he never leaves the bench, or heck, is never even active on game nights.

    Seriously? Contract year?

News Flash: Steve Francis was fired and was paid 30 million dollars last summer to leave (thanks to Portland). How on earth could he be motivated by money / contract year? SF3 is one of my favorite players, but to think that a contract year will put any flames under his.... is ridiculous.

These are the pics many people are looking at and saying Steve "must be working out like crazy" or "he's gonna be The Franchise again next season".

I will say that he does look to be in better shape in these pics but nobody knows anything for sure until we see him on the court. And even in good shape, there is no way to know if he'll be able to play high IQ basketball. Dude has missed a lot of time over the past few years. There's also no way to know if his knee (ligaments or whatever the injury actually was) is truly healed until we see him play a full season again.

Francis as a contributor will have to be seen. He had a golden chance to really make a impact, but he came in with a sense of entitlement and out of shape. Now we're suppose to believe he's going to do anything? Wake me and show me when it happens.

Was I talking to you? And, if that is your friend, more power to your roiding/stripping boyfriend.
