Everyone hates John Wall right now, but the problem is that he has a coach he doesn’t listen to, fear, or respect. He’s given free reign to turn every game into the John Wall promotional tour and shoot at will and ignore his teammates. Hero ball at its worst. This staff sits back and lets Wall do whatever he wants to with no repercussions. There are many positives to Wall’s game that with the proper discipline, coaching, and system could really be helpful to this team in the long term. His current style is just a reflection of the current coaching staff.

    It can be both.

There was a reason his time in DC came to an end.

Ok? That current coaching staff and system isn’t going anywhere.

John Wall could be helpful in the long-term? Lol, the only thing he’ll be doing in the long-term is keeping the ball out of the young player’s hands.

If we are all wrong about Wall, then you made a thread knowing your point of view was incorrect.

Or are you saying everyone except you is wrong about Wall? :p

Wall is similar to Westbrook in that he is unhinged, used to relying on his athleticism, and an inconsistent shooter that consistently tries to shoot. He’s got a talent which is apparent, but if you pay attention to the league hero ball is now the way to go.
I’m not sure what to think of Silas, but I don’t think this year is a fair judge or assessment with a clear goal of winning the lottery and developing players.

Gone are the days of popovich being able to go hard on the players and he’s mentioned himself he has to adjust. the players are viewed as partners more than ever, let alone if you want a hardline structure coast, you better get and pay up someone who has enough status where they can’t question it not a rookie coach or rookie gm(who also says he consults with wall about moves).

Somethings I like about wall are that he has a nice chip on his shoulder and yet also seems grateful to just compete after sitting out 2 years and has clearly matured. His style is similar and I think he is just trying to keep going at that pace until he gets that feel back. Similar to Westbrook we see how disastrous he can be if he is even just at 80 percent and can’t adjust his game, but a few months in the season he seems to get his timing down and now is showing flashes of old bestbrook.

Nonetheless, wall is on contract for a crazy amount for the next two seasons. Our best hope with him is being able to trade him as an expiring in the summer of 2022 /trade deadline 2023, negotiate a buy out, or just ride it out since we maybe tanking again next year given 2022 class is presumed to be when high schoolers are possibly allowed and we have our pick.

If they're not particularly focused on winning at the moment, and want that top pick, then why is this a problem? Would you rather the staff not sit back and let Wall do whatever he wants with no repercussions? People seem to want it both ways -- to have winning basketball and get one of those top four picks. But you can't have both. They're mutually exclusive.

This is who he has always been what are you talking about?

he’s always been inefficient, in love with hero ball and mid range shots.

This is the role for him next year, 6th man, go hard for 15-20 mpg. Get traded at the deadline.

Idk... I jus kinda figure he's leading the tank...

What are they supposed to do - tell everybody to dog it for the sake of the standings? Naw... let Wall carry the weight and look bad... he's got a lot of bucks on the books - and he aint goin nowhere... so he can take one for the team and still have years to recoup his value with some non tanking time down the road...

least i'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being... weird stuff happens when you tank...

i was always so annoyed when watching tanking teams where they all just act confused and had forgotten how to do remedial things..

idk... jus throwin it out there... lol
