Not many things bug me as much as the fact that this game is not as big a match in the USA as it should be. I mean among fairweather or non-soccer loving fans.
I mean it's USA vs MEXICO!!! How many sports can both countries meet up and play on an equal level? Not Basketball, American Football, Hockey, Baseball(Maybe Baseball?), Tennis, Golf. The only sport I can think of is Soccer/Footy. This is one game that should be on national tv, maybe ABC Primetime.(Wishful thinking).

    USA-Mexico= England-Germany/Argentina/Scotland=Holland-Germany=Brazil-Argentina
in terms of the rivalry between the opponents.

Also, why must it fall on Duke-UNC night two years in a row?

" The World Cup? WTF is that? " <- your average United Statesian or a guy in the rest of the world who lives under a rock. :p

:( I couldn't go anywhere else 'cuz I'm babysitting, or else I would invite ALL OF YOU IN THIS THREAD to my house to watch this game. Except for KingCheetah :p .

The US - Mexico match is not as big as England - Germany/Argentina, Germany - Holland or Argentina/Brasil.
It would take more bad blood for that to happen and as hard as Mexico tries (the Osama chants, the whole tricolor team trying to kick Cobi Jones into the hospital in the 2002 WC.) it's not going to be a big game for the most casual of American sports fans until the US does something more substantial on the world stage.

And to add more fire to the flame for those of us who know how big a game like this is, I do hope that the Mexicanos who live here in the US and cheer on the Tricolores appreciate the fact that they don't have to travel far to watch them lose. Ok, that was low. A fact. But low nonetheless.

Why can't we talk about the friendlies? Although they were played in the US, it doesn't change the fact that the majority of those games were played in front of pro-Mexico crowds.

 Really? You don't say. I can tell you 3 reasons why it matters where we play, and that MEXICO wins in MEXICO because:

    1. Smog (pick the city).
    2. Altitude above sea level (F Denver, the Pope even liked that place).
    3. Fans who can scream obscenities without well-behavin' fans telling them "Oh, you guys, please behave."

So, you're basically saying that there's only one stadium in the world that you can beat us at? I think that proves who the better team is.

No. I never said that. I left it open for the Queretaro Corregidora, Jalisco Stadium, Nemesio Diez of Toluca, and Cuauhtemoc Puebla stadiums. They all have those characteristics. I left some out.

You're still proving my point, that Mexico needs everything going their way in order to beat the US. You've fallen so far, you've turned to voodoo dolls:

I think that "voodoo dolls" are just for fun, and they are only for promotion of the newspaper, nobody would take seriously that.

Here's the US roster for the match:

    GOALKEEPERS: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan

DEFENDERS: Oguchi Onyewu, Carlos Bocanegra, Frankie Hejduk, Heath Pearce, Dan Califf, Jonathan Bornstein, Marvell Wynne

MIDFIELDERS: DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Bradley, Sacha Kljestan, Jose Francisco Torres, Ricardo Clark, Robbie Rogers

FORWARDS: Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Jozy Altidore, Charlie Davies

I'm guessing they'll start with this...

    Howard

    Hejduk Onyewu Bocanegra Pearce

    Donovan Kljestan Bradley Beasley

    Ching Dempsey

Donovan will play more of a withdrawn forward.

    I'm guessing:

    Howard

    Hejduk Onyewu Bocanegra Bornstein

    Dempsey Kljestan Bradley Beasley

    Donovan Ching

Dempsey has been playing extremely well out right with Fulham while Donovan has been playing well as a forward for Bayern Munich. Also, I think Bornstein gets the nod as he played well against Mexico in the Gold Cup.

Switch Donovan and Dempsey and I think that's the most likely starting XI. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Clark starts in place of Kljestan, he's played well against Mexico in the past.

Maybe with Donovan and Dempsey, but I think you need a Kljestan with a Bradley. Bradley isn't the ball holding central mid that Kljestan is, and neither is Clark.
